A straw maze is a maze built with straw bales. Becoming a popular tourist attraction in the Western United States, particularly in Rexburg, Idaho and a few locations in Utah. The average straw maze is built on approximately 1 acre of land and takes the average person 45 minutes to navigate. Straw mazes are difficult because of narrow pathways, solid shear walls that one cannot see or pass through, and sharp oftentimes undetectable paths.

The very first straw maze was the Rexburg Straw Maze[citation needed] as part of a project for some Brigham Young University Idaho business students.
