Mister Leather Europe
Mister Leather Europe (MLE) is a pan European contest of leathermen held annually around October in Europe; it's organized by the ECMC, European Confederation of Motorsport Club, and hosted each year by a different member club[1].[2].
The first known contest was held in 1985 in Stockholm, Sweden; the winner was David Risenborough. [3].
MLE contestants must either be the winner of a local or regional ECMC club leather contest. Winners are usually sponsored to attend the International Mister Leather contest in Chicago the following May.
The current titleholder is Pieter Claeys[4] from the Netherlands.
MLE Contest format
The contest take place during the ECMC AGM, tha Annual General Meeting of ECMC clubs, hosted each year by a different club. The AGM weekend program schedules [5] [6]:
Friday:
- welcome party (with contestants introduction);
Saturday
- (afternoon) Conference of the ECMC clubs;
- (night) Gala Dinner;
- (night) Mister Leather Europe Contest;
Sunday
- (morning) Farewell Brunch
Usually, as in 2008 and 2009[7], the contest is composed of two rounds:
1. On stage interview and appearance.
2. Fetish show
Scoring
Scoring varies from year to year and is decided by the host club.
Generally there is an aggregate score from the judges and the audience.
In 2010, the host club, Frankfurter Leder Club announced that "The Jury is composed of one judge from each Club sponsoring a Contestant, plus one judge of the FLC and the current president of the ECMC AGM. Each judge will vote for all the Contestants but not for the one sponsored by his own Club. The votes will range from 1 (lowest) to X (highest); X being the numbers of Contestants. The public vote by the audience will be publicly announced and counted twice. It will therefore range from 2 (lowest) to 2X (highest); X being the numbers of Contestants. The votes will be added to the score of the jury. In case of a tie, the Jury will vote again between the leading Contestants for the final ranking. In this case, the vote of the Jury will be exclusive and final and will not be subject to the audience judgement."[8]
