Rewrite

This article is pretty terribly written. We jump into communication with Andre Rand, without even knowing who he is. I had to get halfway down the article to even know that he was the (murderer?) and I still don't really understand who he was or what he did. Can someone with a more detailed knowledge of what happened rewrite this?
