Character History
Before Shortland Street
At the age of 17, Wendy married boyfriend Murray Cooper. She started having children early and the couple created Evan, Bella and Jasmine. Wendy became a nurse but stopped this job in the late nineties. Wendy then bought a petrol station. Sometime between these years, Murray lost his job and Wendy became the sole income earner of the family.
Arrival to Shortland Street
Wendy first appeared in early June 2010 when she saw that stranger, Sarah Potts was about to receive a ticket on her car. She told the parking warden it was her car and she was just leaving so they wouldn't fine Sarah. Sarah saw her do this and thanked her thoroughly. It turned out that day that Wendy was going to meet Sarah for an interview to be a nurse at Sarah s Primary Care Clinic. Sarah, liked Wendy and hired her while other doctor Reuben Fitzpatrick disliked her heavily and got annoyed at what seemed no skill at the job. Sarah and Reuben caught her sleeping and putting petrol in the back room and they accused her of substance abuse. She got very angry and quit. It was not long before Sarah found out Wendy worked at a petrol station. She quickly rehired Wendy. In late June, after several disputes, Reuben walked out of the business and reported the leaky roof to authorities and the clinic had to be shut down for a while. Wendy got a job at Shortland Street Hospital much to the annoyance of Tania Jeffries, who Wendy had been pestering as she wanted her friend Eileen to get a hip replacement. But after a while Tania realised how good a nurse Wendy was and congratulated her.
