Prognosis?

It would be nice to include a prognosis section in this article. Can this disease lead to death if it progresses? Do the kidneys need to be removed? etc etc etc. There was a news story today 2010-06-19 on a tragedy where a woman with this disease went to an unregulated stem cell clinic in Thailand to be treated for this, and died as a result. The question I had was that assuming she never went to the unregulated Thai clinic, would she have faced death if the disease was not cured.
