Murray County Central is a school district in southwestern Minnesota. Both the elementary school (West Elementary-2640 Forest Avenue, Slayton, MN 56172), and the high school (Central HS) are located in Slayton. The principal of the grades 7-12, as well as the superintendent, is Summer Pankonen. The principal of elementary students is Sally Berg.
Murray County Central's marching band is an award-winning band that competes in multiple competitions throughout the midwest. In 2009 they traveled to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and marched in the famous Disney World Parade. In 2010 they recieved a first place trophy at the Tri-State Band Festival held in Luverne, Minnesota, as well as a second place trophy at the Festival of Bands Competition in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, ranking as the highest placing public school in Class A competition. They are under the direction of Elizabeth Ennenga.
