A fact from Marijan Beneš appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 24 September 2007. The text of the entry was as follows:

Untitled
In the biography section, it says that Benes played violin and piano "himself." Does that mean he taught himself how to play those instruments (which is noteworthy), or just that he played them by himself (i.e., not in an ensemble), which is not noteworthy, and thus "himself" should be deleted? 86.133.102.24 12:45, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
- It was originally paired by the fact that his father was a music teacher, subsequently deleted, so it made sense in that context; I find it difficult to phrase the sentence though: "His parents were both teachers, and father in particular a music teacher,...". Sounds awkward? Duja► 13:22, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
How in the holy mother of god can he be croat? Can anyone quote him as declaring himself as croat? In the latest documentary you can clearly hear Benes saying that he is Yugoslavian! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.227.113.208 (talk) 19:18, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
His father is called Josip, his mother Marija and he's name is Marijan which clearly proves his Croatian descent. He is etnically and by nationality Croatian and was expelled out of his beloved Banja Luka, as many others Croatians and Muslems, simply because they were not serbian. He brother was killed simply because he was not serbian, so cut the crap. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.246.165.56 (talk) 22:35, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Well why dont you roll your ass to banjaluka and ask him yourself, he always declared himself as yugoslavian..... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.227.118.161 (talk) 17:52, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Marijan is of Czech ancestry. He is not a Croat. End of discussion. (talk)
