Additional "cost" of multiple edits?
I'm currently working on expanding a table (including references) for the locations of the Boy Scout Asia Pacific Region Jamborees. Each time that I find something in my research, I'm adding the information and the footnotes that come from it. Am I causing any additional "costs" to wikipedia (storage, retrieval time, etc.) by doing these changes in 20 or so edits rather than trying to build them off-line and doing them in one edit?Naraht (talk) 00:46, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
- For each edit you have to donate $1 (or its equivalent). Just kidding. Nice of you to be concerned, but I wouldn't worry about it. Personally, I like more individual edits rather than large complex changes. How do I keep content changed and accurate?
I monitor the Eschatology (religious movement) page and work for the Director of Eschatology, Bruce Smith. I have made revisions to this page to keep it current and accurate, but the changes I've put on are being changed by "unauthorized" individuals who are either being malicious and ill informed. - You can't guarantee anything. The general way to keep things on Wikipedia is to have it verifiable, well referenced, neutral in tone and fits the fundamental principles by which Wikipedia operates. Regards, SunCreator (talk) 02:37, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

- In a way, that's what they're asking about, what the process is to get it changed.
- Msukgroup, in order to use that image, Solomon (or the photographer who may have the copyright on that image) must release the rights to it so that it can be used under a "free license". - We need more background. If you have someone whose edits concern you, you'll need to give us more information, such as what account is making problematic edits, and what the name of their prior account was. --Jayron32 06:47, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
- Sockpuppetry itself isn't a reason to revert a user's edits unless they're unconstructive (which includes contributions to a discussion where they have attempted to turn the tide of the discussion by acting as a sockpuppet, where the comments are usually struck and the fact that they are a sockpuppet is noted). If the user is a sockpuppet of a banned user, their contributions can be reverted at will however, since it has been decided that their negative contributions outweigh the positive ones. - The editors involved are probably sockpuppets, but they are not a confirmed sockpuppet; the confirmed and blocked sockpuppet coterie took the other side in a dispute; see Talk:American Academy of Financial Management. And these edits aren't really part of the sort of discussion where !voting takes place, so there isn't a need to erase them. (I would prefer to keep them as part of the record so people don't think I'm crazy when I say that the only people who edit this article are tendentious conflict-of-interest sockpuppets.) I recently created a new wikipedia account. I have previously made several changes which have recorded my IP address. Is there any way in which I can now remove my old IP and utilize the account feature(eg.Anonymous IP)?

- Unfortunately, we cannot reattribute the edits to you directly. If you wish to "claim" the edits, you may indicate so on your userpage "Edits made by IP XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX between Octember 1 and Junly 22 2010 were by me"; however that's the best you can do. Or you can just let them go, if you'd prefer to let your IP be fully anonymous. --Jayron32 06:33, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
Abuse and page sabotage
I was in a rock band called Big Daddy (Band). There is an idiot hacker with the username Kintetsubuffalo who keeps reverting an article on this band, and it is annoying the people who were in the band and the true fans of the band. The information he has in there is false. There are unfamiliar names of members and historical inaccuracies. I edited the article, but Kintetsubuffalo reverted it. There must be a way to protect a page from inaccuracies. Big Daddy was a footnote in the history of Rock'n'Roll. Opened for Jay Leno, had top 10 record in UK and Australia. We are relevant But this Kintetsubuffalo person keeps removing even the names of the 5 founding members. I reverted it back to what I had, tho it took hours. Then I tried contacting Kintetsubuffalo to ask that they stop doing this. Funny, this doesn't seem to happen with any other article. I've never seen gross inaccuracies in any of the Wikipedia searches I've done. Why, then, should this Kintetsubuffalo be allowed to continue defacing my attempts at accuracy.

- Can you provide a verifiable source (newspaper article, or other quality source - see WP:SOURCES for what counts as a good source) for your edits? I will be glad to help you edit the article with good quality, verifiable information. In the meantime I'll look at the article history to get a sense of what is happening. - (edit conflict) There is a Wikipedia page about Big Daddy. Several editors have reverted your edits, most recently because your editing messed up the formatting of the page. Your response to this was to mess up the formatting again, and then to come here and call one of them names. There is a right way, and a wrong way, to fix the article. Please understand that we all want to get the article correct. However, as you have chosen the wrong way, it isn't working. Since you were a member of the band, you have access to reliable written sources which contain the information you are trying to add. Wikipedia is built upon proper referencing, so if you actually want the information you are trying to add to stay in the article, the right way to do it is to provide us with written evidence which supports the changes you are trying to make. Simply go to Talk:Big Daddy (band), click "New Section" and provide a list of links to website that people can check out so that we can verify what you are trying to add. Let me restate this: It is very important that the Wikipedia article is accurate. However, we need to be able to verify that it is accurate using other written sources. - The site has been on the global spam blacklist ever since the Great Navel-Gazing and Wiki-War of 2006. That's why you can't generally link it. HP Print JOB Storage Police not working on Server(64bit) to Clint(32bit)
Dear All,
Help needed..
For Forced Private PIN Printing (Job storage) proposed:-
1) Need to install UDP driver (PCL6) on 64 bit server and share the same with JOB Storage policy(/pfpjob=102).
2) Then connect from 32 bit client.
3) Connection done, printing done but Job storage policy not apply on client side.
Also we have troubleshoot..

1) 64bit server to 64 bit client it's working fine.
2) 32bit server to 32 bit client it's working fine.

- You can only send email to another user if both of you have enabled email in your accounts. User:Jonibmac has enabled email but you don't. You can enable it at Special:Preferences. FONT SIZE
I can no longer use Wikipedia as you have made the font size so small I can no longer read it. Using a magnifying glass I found there are others who have encountered the same problem but no solution is offered by you. - Certain combinations of browsers, browser settings, account settings and other factors can cause font size problems. You didn't mention your browser or operating system but try to hold down Ctrl and press the '+' key or scroll up with the mouse. Or try to change skin by clicking Special:Preferences and then click "Appearance", "MonoBook", "Save". PrimeHunter (talk) 12:27, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Edit a reference list
I can create a reference for an item in the main page. But when I try to edit the reference, I can not see it. Clicking on edit for References just shows:

Swapping out a photo
I'm trying to replace a photo related to Portland Center Stage and First Regiment Armory Annex.

I am a beginner at editing Wikipedia and finding it difficult.
The photo should be changed because 1) it doesn't show off the façade of the building well and 2) the person in the photo is an employee of Portland Center Stage and would like to not be pictured on Wikipedia, particularly while he is lighting a cigarette.
Can you assist me in making this change?

- Actually, I had done it for you, but I just realize we're going to have to undo it. The original source for the picture you wanted to add is at http://www.flickr.com/photos/portlandcenterstage/4888479363/ which indicates that it is under copyright. Wikipedia cannot, except under very limited circumstances, accept copyrighted work. If you would like to replace the picture, you're going to have to find a free version. The best way to do this is to take a new photo yourself and upload it to commons, and release it under a Wikimedia-compatable liscence such as CC-BY-SA or GFDL. --Jayron32 20:27, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

title change for an article
I created a page and then moved it (since the title was wrong for the original page). I managed to successfully redirect the page. However, in a search engine, the name of the original page shows up, which is confusing. I want only the new article name to show up. - Google does not react instantly to changes at Wikipedia. It can sometimes take anywhere from a few hours to a few days for Google to update its indexes to point to the corrected page. The answer to your question "What should I do" is wait. --Jayron32 21:04, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
Boyfriends death
Hi, my boyfriend died on 19 April 2010, I don't know what to do as I've never been in this situation before. We lived together as common law man & wife for almost 5 years. I have his car and the few things that he did own on the property that I'm renting. (most of which I paid for but do not have receipts for) His ex-wife wants to take everything including that which is in the flat that I had before P & I got together. She says that it all belongs to their daughter of 14yrs old. My boyfriend was unemployed during our relationship and I supported him and paid all the bills. The bills grew as I couldn't support us on my salary alone. He did the odd handyman job but that was all. What do I do and who is entitled to what. Give Feedback on article feature
When looking at Wikipedia recently I noticed that articles now have an option for readers/editors to give feedback on articles. Does anyone have a link to where the discussion to implement this feature is and if there is any page that discusses how it will be used.
