Negus (disambiguation)
Appearance
Negus can mean:
- An Amharic word for vassal ruler or governor in the pre-1974 empire of Ethiopia . The term negus negust and alternative forms mean "king of kings", or Emperor, although authors often incorrectly shortened this as Negus. See Ethiopian aristocratic and religious titles.
- The name of a drink made of wine, most commonly port, mixed with hot water, spiced and sugared. According to Malone (Life of Dryden, Prose Work.i - p. 484) this drink was invented by a British Colonel, Francis Negus (commissioner for executing the office of master of the horse from 1717 to 1727, then master of the buckhounds, died 1732)
