a Estimates suggest there are now over 4 million people of Turkish descent living in Germany.[60] However, close to 500,000 are ethnic Kurds from Turkey.[61]

c Government immigration figures on the number of Turks in the US estimates a total of 190,000[62] persons; however, these statistics are not fully reliable because a considerable number of Turks were born in the Balkans and USSR.[63]
d A further 10,000-30,000 people from Bulgaria live in the Netherlands. The majority are Bulgarian Turks and are the fastest-growing group of immigrants in the Netherlands.[64]
