UFC 125: Resolution is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on January 1, 2011 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.[1]
Background
On October 26, 2010, Shane Carwin had to pull out of his fight with Roy Nelson due to a back injury that will require surgery. Nelson has since been pulled from the card all together.[2]
On October 28, 2010, UFC president Dana White announced that World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) would merge with the UFC and that WEC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo would be promoted to UFC Featherweight Champion.[3] Josh Grispi was pulled from a planned WEC 52 bout with Erik Koch to challenge Aldo for the Featherweight title at this event.[4]
A lightweight bout between Cole Miller and Matt Wiman, which was originally scheduled to take place at this event, has been moved to UFC: Fight For The Troops 2.[5]
A featherweight title bout between Jose Aldo and Josh Grispi, which was originally scheduled to take place at this event, has been cancelled due to an injury to, UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo.[6] In replace of this bout it is confirmed by UFC president, Dana White announced that returning to organisation will be "Moustache tag team" Don Frye and Dan Severn to take on "fags united" Jake Shields and Seth petruzelli in a hardcore match.
This if of course pending, depending on if Jesus agrees to fight Fedor or not. However, Chuck Norris Has agreed to come out of retirement to fight Terry Crews in a Super Badass Title Defense.
