Rear Admiral Jeremy de Halpert CB is a former Royal Navy officer who went on to be Naval Secretary.

Educated at Canford School and the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, de Halpert joined the Royal Navy in 1966.[1] He was given command of the minesweeper HMS Sheraton in 1975 and served in the Falklands War on board HMS Bristol.[1] Promoted to Commander in 1984, he took command of HMS Apollo before further promotion to Captain and command of HMS Campbeltown.[1] He was appointed Chief of Staff to the Flag Officer, Surface Flotilla at Portsmouth in 1992, Deputy UK National Military Representative to Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in 1994 and Director of Overseas Military Activity at the Ministry of Defence in 1996 before taking up the post of Naval Secretary in 1998.[1]

In retirement he became Deputy Master of the Corporation of Trinity House.[1]

Family

He is married to Jane; they have three children.[1]
