The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes is an American cartoon series by Marvel Animation based on the Marvel Comics superhero team the Avengers. The show debuted on Disney XD in Fall 2010 starting with a 20 part micro-series.[1]

The series initially features a team based on the roster for the original Avengers, composed of Ant-Man, Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, and the Wasp. In terms of tone and style, the series will be based primarily on the original stories by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. However, it will also utilize material from all eras of the comic's run and other sources such as the Marvel Cinematic Universe.[2]

Plot

As the world's most dangerous supervillains break out of the Vault, the Cube, the Big House, and the Raft, six of Earth's mightiest heroes assemble a crime fighting alliance called the Avengers. The Avengers line-up initially includes Hank Pym (who assumes both his Ant-Man and Giant-Man alter-egos), Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, and the Wasp.[3] Black Panther and Hawkeye will join the main roster as the series progresses.[4]

Episode list

Characters

  • Hank Pym / Ant-Man / Giant-Man (Wally Wingert)[5] is a scientist who invented Pym Particles, a subatomic substance which allows him to both shrink himself to the size of an ant and expand his body to the size of a skyscraper. He usually goes with a diplomatic method of settling things, but will fight if need be.
  • T'Challa / Black Panther (James C. Mathis III)[4] was exiled from the country of Wakanda when his father was overthrown as the King by the Man-Ape. Now, he seeks the Avengers help to regain his homeland.
  • Steve Rogers / Captain America (Brian Bloom)[6] is America's first Super Soldier. Captain America became frozen in the depths of the ocean while trying to thwart the Red Skull's escape in World War II.
  • Clint Barton / Hawkeye (Chris Cox)[5] is a former agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Barton was betrayed and framed by his former partner, the Black Widow. Bent on clearing his name, he teams up with the Avengers to fight evil and expose Black Widow as a double-agent.
  • Hulk (Fred Tatasciore)[5] is a misunderstood monster, forced into a life of running from military forces and fighting by the ever-vigilant General Ross. His alter-ego, Bruce Banner, decided not to get rid of the Hulk after talking to him and coming to believe that there is a place for the Hulk in the world. This incarnation of the Hulk retains the ability to speak, like the Hulk in the original Avengers comics of the 1960s.
    • Bruce Banner (Gabriel Mann)[7] is the Hulk's alter-ego. He agrees to allow the Hulk to remain physically in control of their body in exchange for the Hulk helping the Avengers. Bruce can still tell the Hulk his opinion and give advice on what to do.
  • Tony Stark / Iron Man (Eric Loomis)[6] is a billionaire inventor whose creations have fallen into the hands of groups like S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA. Tony Stark uses his high-tech suit of armor to try to reclaim what is his and to stop the untold destruction that both organizations bring with his tech. He is acting leader of the Avengers and supplies them with resources from data to vehicles to expenses.
  • Thor Odinson / Thor (Rick D. Wasserman)[5] is the Norse God of Thunder and one of Asgard's strongest warriors. Thor chooses to spend his time on Midgard to help the humans deal with superhuman threats. He is also attracted to the brave and selfless paramedic, Jane Foster. He develops an antagonistic relationship with Hulk due to Hulk treating everyone like an enemy and insulting them.
  • Janet van Dyne / Wasp (Colleen O'Shaughnessey)[5] is Hank Pym's business partner. Jan is impetuous and the youngest Avenger. She came up with the idea of naming the team "The Avengers" and is flirtatious with Henry Pym, though he is oblivious to the fact.
  • Heinrich Zemo / Baron Zemo (Robin Atkin Downes)[4][14] formed the Masters of Evil. His position as former head of HYDRA was usurped by Baron Strucker after he was imprisoned by S.H.I.E.L.D. He created the imperfect HYDRA serum that granted him longevity and led to the Red Skull's mutation.
  • Amora / Enchantress (Kari Wahlgren)[4] is a powerful Asgardian sorceress and ally to Loki. She and the Executioner originally approached Zemo about founding the Masters of Evil.
  • Skurge / Executioner[2] is the Enchantress' loyal underling who wields a large battle axe which not only rivals Mjolnir as a battle weapon but also allows him to cut rifts into other dimensions and project fire and ice at his foes.
  • Emil Blonsky / Abomination (Robin Atkin Downes)[4] was physically mutated by gamma radiation in a similar fashion to the Hulk. However, he is unable to transform back, despite maintaining his intellect.
  • Ivan Vanko / Crimson Dynamo (Chris Cox)[4] is a Soviet scientist whose grudge against Iron Man can be traced back to his father and Howard Stark's collaborations. His armor is heavily armed, from rockets to gattling guns.[15]
  • Simon Williams / Wonder Man (Phil LaMarr)[5] is the Grim Reaper's brother and a former businessman whose business was bought out by Tony Stark. He was transformed into an ion-powered being by A.I.M. to get revenge, though it caused his body to become wildly unstable. He is reassembled by the Enchantress' magic and is forced to join the Masters of Evil.
