Colonia del Valle is made up of six colonies, Actipan, Acacias, Insurgentes San Borja, Tlacoquemécatl del Valle, Presidente Miguel Alemán, Crédito Constructor and Del Valle in sections North, Central and South (all in three sections). Colonia del Valle receives a daily floating population of over one million people making use of its schools, malls, parks, hospitals, banks, etc.

Origin and development

At the beginning of the 20th century initiates the splitting of the ranches had been cultivated alfalfa and fruit trees were found, giving rise to the area, his name was Colonia Americana. These farms were the most popular of Love, Tlacoquemécatl (where is located the Chapel of the Good Lord Firm and its famous and beautiful park), Santa Anita and San Borja. Some neighborhood streets are named after these ranchos and gave its fruit trees, as well as Mexican philanthropists, among others.

While working as a streetcar route was from the Mexico City to Coyoacán, had a slow development until 1920, when it expands and paves the Avenida de los Insurgentes and start to build huge houses on the said avenue, and that marked the development of the area, to which was added the construction of monuments and green areas, one of which is located in what was a brick, the current Park Sunk.

For the decade of 1960 the area was already fully developed and many other colonies of equal purchasing power lay at the sides so it was inevitable commercial development, including 2 major events, the opening of Liverpool Insurgentes in 1962 and the first supermarket in the country University in 1969 and Parish.

In 1978 the decision to build the road axes transformed radically and permanently in the face of the colony, their once quiet streets with ridge is modified and gave way to the river of asphalt, shafts 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 south crossing from east to west and 1, 2 and 3 do west from south to north. This resulted in many families look for quieter places to live and began the inexorable process of recycling of land, where there were mansions built apartment buildings or in his absence turned into offices and schools.

At the end of the decade of the 60's start a fiber construction of small skyscrapers, both trade and departments, which cause the area is one of the most densely populated of the Mexico City as well as housing complexes, such as the Assembly President Miguel Urbano German.

Currently, the diversity of architectural styles and the amount of population still developing, they converge in the project to recover household spaces and family activities in the colony, since the large amount of construction four-storey building on land originally was a bedroom houses have been of some interest to the building despite the economic crisis facing the country.
