The Real McKenzies is a Scottish-influenced Celtic punk band founded in Vancouver, Canada in 1992.
In addition to writing and performing original music, Real McKenzies resurrect traditional Scottish songs, giving them a new punk-influenced sound. The band tours extensively, including an eight-month, 23-country tour in a van.[citation needed] On some of these tours, they have shared stages with Rancid, DragStrip Riot, NOFX, Flogging Molly, Xcrosscheckx, Rough Chukar, The Misfits, Metallica, The Rookers, Voodoo Glow Skulls and Shane MacGowan. [citation needed] Their songs have been used in beer commercials.[citation needed] Their music was recently used in the Scots-Canadian movie Stone of Destiny.
