Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Verkilambi had a population of 17,982. Males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Verkilambi has an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 74%. Manalikkarai

Manalikarai is a village situated at a distance of 10 kilometres from the town thuckalay and 10 kilometres from the town marthandam.

Manalikarai is very famous in the district its educational beauty.It is filled with educational institutions.St. Mary Goretty Higher Secondary School situated here is very famous for its achievements in educational,sports as well as cultural activities.

ManakkavilaiI

Arulmigu Ambalavanar Thirukkovil is the famous temple situated in a village called Manakkavilai.The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva.Its a samathi of Ambalavanar.Aso kanapathy ,amman,adikalar,nager . Every 3 years maholsavam.Its also called 'arsamoodu kovil because there is a big and massive ,historic tree namely arasu . Which is situated 3 kilometres from Verkilambi..

Poovai ,Kalankuzhi,Chitrancode.. were situated in manakkavilai.

Andamparai

' Andamparai is a small village located near to Manalikarai. Andamparai derives its name from a Rock. There are 2000 people are living in the village. A CSI church is situated in the village. This village occupied two pond also surrounded with coconut trees. Major works of the people is rubber tapping, farmer, mason. Around 40% of the men's are working in gulf countries.
