Aero Mongolia is one of the major airlines in Ulan Bator, Mongolia. It operates domestic flights to eleven local destinations and operates international scheduled services to Irkutsk, Russia and Hohhot, Urumqi in China. Its main base is Chinggis Khaan International Airport, Ulan Bator, Mongolia.[1]

History

Brief

The airline was established in 2002 and performed its first flight domestically on 25 May 2003. Today, it has employees of over 150 (at DeC 2010)[1] and operating flights for 3 destinations internationally, and 12 destinations domestically by its own three Fokker 50 aircrafts, each of which has 50 seats and made in 1992 and two Fokker 100 aircrafts, each has 100 seats and made in 1992. It received its first Fokker 50 in May 2003 and received its Fokker 100 in January 2006. Aero Mongolia is operating with the cooperation of worldly renowned manufacturers, such as Pratt & Whitney service, AAP service, Fokker service, Rolls Royce, Dowty Propellers, Contact Air, Alteon Boeing, Honeywell, and Oxford Aviation Academy. In September 22, 2008 World Quality Committee evaluated the effort of Aero Mongolia and granted the prestigious award 'White Golden Star' for keeping the customers satisfaction at high level, in Paris, France. Formerly Aero Mongolia had once won the 'Golden Star' award in 2006. By getting merged with 'Monnis Group' in June 2007, Aero Mongolia took numerous actions for to strengthen its management, to stabilize financial capability and to ensure flight safety. Currently, Aero Mongolia is planning to deliver Boeing 737 in summer 2011, and already started taking actions.

Chronology

  • Aero Mongolia LLC was founded in June, 2001.
  • The company first took the airline permission in October, 2003.
  • Delivered 2 Fokker 50 aircrafts on May 2003.

On 31 October 2007, Mongolian aviation authorities suspended Aero Mongolia flights temporarily after the airline failed safety checks.[2] But in the first quarter of 2008 Aero Mongolia has received the license to fly in domestic routes.

The airline's operation was temporarily suspended from January to May, 2009. [3]

Now currently using 2 Fokker 50's which were modified in 2008 in Germany.
