Serges Pascal Wawa Sfondo (born 1 January 1986 in Bingerville) is an Ivorian football defender playing for ASEC Mimosas.

Career

He began his career at Sabé Sports de Bouna was transferred 2004 to Académie de Sol Beni, before 2007 promoted to ASEC[1]. He is one of ASEC’s key assets, capable of playing as a central defender, left-back and a winger. A strong athlete with explosive qualities and aggressive moves, capable of long and short passes. He is a good ball winner with excellent shooting abilities, attributes that has won him a regular place in the team.

In January 2009, Wawa was linked with moves to LA Galaxy and Colorado Rapids(MLS). Wawa was on 19 January 2009 on trial at FC Lorient[2], he and did not sign contract, and joined back ASEC. On 02 February 2009, he concluded a move to the Rapids after a successful trial, Colorado Rapids was keen on offering him a good contract, but he did not signed again with Colorado Rapids, as ASEC Mimosas and Rapids could not reach an agreement on the transfer fees.

International career

He represented his country at the 2008 Olympic Games and played 4 Games[3]. He played by Toulon Tournament 2008 for Côte d'Ivoire Under-21[4], played his first A-Game for Côte d'Ivoire national football team in 2006.[5]
