The Channel 289 ex-article
- Re the Channel 289 article: Simply missing sources is not grounds for an article being speedily deleted. However, why I did delete the article was when it appeared to be a creation of GMTV Chart Show (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) under a new user name. At that point, it qualified under criterion G3, blatant vandalism. Better tagging would have been {{hoax}} and {{db|G3: Recreation of article by apparent sockpuppet of a blocked user}}. That would have more clearly explained what was going on and required less research. (I wound up digging through your contributions to come up with GMTV Chart Show]'s correctly-spelled username.) —C.Fred (talk) 18:21, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Hello, can you help me?
Hello there ive noticed your work on various TV channels and I wonder if you could help me? Ive created an article for B4U which is a Bollywood TV network that broadcasts two channels in various countries (including the UK). However another user claims that I cant use the title 'B4U' as - a, He thinks a song called 'B4U' used on various computer games is more notable, despite the fact there is no article for the song, he simply wants to use B4U as a redirect to the computer game article
b, He thinks my article should be titled 'Bollywood For You' even though the network is universallly known as B4U and thats what appears on the EPG. (like the Beeb is known as the BBC even though its full title is the British Broadcasting Corporation).
Hes really going to war on this, weve already asked for editor assistance and 2 people responded saying they agreed with me that the B4U TV company was notable enough to hold the title and that if an article was created for the song then they should share B4U on a disambiguation page which I would be happy with. Yet hes ignoring this and seems determined to move my article to a different title.
Im still quite new to this so I dont really know what to do, any tips or advice? Would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Bleaney (talk) 16:38, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice
Hi,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

List of sky channels
Any chance next time you are adding channels that are testing of the epg you mioght be able to get a screen grab and post it image sharing place for use as a source? just makes it more verifable--Andrewcrawford (talk) 19:22, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
List of free to air channels
Any chance you can update the information list of that page and add any new channels that are available, it needs the same treatment as sky page and virgin page but for now it best to leave the clean up just bring it up to date and add the rest of the frequencies and if possible if where you get the frequencies from is not on one of two main referenced sources then let me know the source and i will add it for specific channel. I have more work to do to the sky and virgin pages before i can work on this one, and i also have a lot of uni work to do today and tomorrow--Andrewcrawford (talk) 21:06, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- No problem Andrewcrawford! I can't promise I can get it all done or list all the new ones but I certainly will try. Maybe we should write a sentence in the opening paragraph stating when the article was last updated and this should help us in the future to know when it was last done and what outstanding changes need to be carried out.
- (Skytvfreak (talk) 21:19, 28 February 2009 (UTC))
- Yip that is one of the updates we will be including as i say i need ot try finishs virign and sky off. Main problem will be finding out when it was las tupdated. I mean for channesl that have launched since the aritcle wa slast updated.--Andrewcrawford (talk) 21:32, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
About that edit on the Disney Cinemagic article...
Sorry I used my school's IP address while I made it. I'm not mad about your recent cleanup to the article, but a little concerned. <:D
As I said before, it is currently unknown, even to me, if Disney Cinemagic will ever launch in the US. And with the recent economic downturns, I doubt it would happen anytime soon. What would you suggest?
~~LDEJRuff~~ (see what I've contributed) 14:50, 15 April 2009 (EDT)
- Hi LDEJRuff. I reverted the comment regarding a launch in the US as I felt is wasn't very necessary. However after thinking about it and slightly adapting it into a small paragraph regarding a launch in other parts of the world where Disney Channel is currently available including the US, other parts of Europe etc etc in the 'Disney Cinemagic around the world' bit is a sensable compromise.
- I have already done this and I hope you agree with me that this is sensable. If not, do let me know!
- By the way, if you have a Wiki account, why didn't you log in when you made the original edit!?
- Skytvfreak (talk) 20:10, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- Why I didn't log in when I made the original edit isn't important now. I think I agree with you, of course it may take time for the channel to launch in the US. Anyway, now that Toon Disney and Jetix are off the air/rebranded into Disney XD, there's no network in the US that can air The Lion King's Timon & Pumbaa, unless Disney XD makes a decision to air that show.

Disputed fair use rationale for File:Cineworld New Logo.jpg}
Thank you for uploading File:Cineworld New Logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 12:33, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
- I have now corrected the matter in question and have used the non-free use rationale as recommeneded.

Arsenal TV
After checking the EPG Arsenal TV is still broadcasting, and visible to me (as a former Setanta Subscriber) however my friend sees the encrypted banner, despite full Sky subscription. I've updated the Sky EPG list. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.192.116.120 (talk) 17:43, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (File:CinemagicHDlogo.png)
Thanks for uploading File:CinemagicHDlogo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 19:19, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
This edit is completely inappropriate. Not only should galleries not be used to display non-free content, but the logos are practically identical and of minimal importance- please see our non-free content criteria. Finally, good faith edits should never be reverted without comment. J Milburn (talk) 14:29, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- I would disagree the logos are all different and show hwo the logo has changed over time, if it was jsut a case of the logo was showing how it meant o tbe and hwo it is on screen i agree but ther eis major differences in the logos so are showing a timelien of history of the channel. I am not comment on any of th eother stuff you has said as it is not my place to say but the logos are. If tghe images are not done right then however uplaoded should be let known how to do it and osmeone should fix the rationally on them--Andrewcrawford (talk - contrib) 14:43, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Not only is this kind of abuse not appropriate, but the same logic applies to you- "Who made you the oh so mighty god?" Why are you the one telling me to go to the talk page? The burden of proof lies with those wishing to include non-free content, and there is not even an attempt at a rationale for either of those images, so your shouting and your abuse is going to get you absolutely nowhere. I advise you calm down and stop your edit warring immediately, as your behaviour is approaching the blockable. J Milburn (talk) 20:53, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
- As a third party, I was just on my way here to remind Skytvfreak about WP:CIVILITY, one of Wikipedia's five pillars. Please comment upon content, not editors. No need to be so personal. The JPStalk to me 21:17, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Republic of Ireland/Viva
The term "Republic of Ireland" is invalid. The official name for Republic of Ireland is just "Ireland", also, 24 hour time is not used on Wiki as far as I'm aware, as some people from different countries are unsure what 16:00 is (except in a table, for example, where hours of broadcast for a TV station are shown, that's different). --Kei_Jo (aka Keithf2008) (Talk to me, baby! :P) 17:34, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
I was only following the scheme of things that have been discussed with the List of channels on Sky Digital page. Regarding times, I have read somewhere that times should be written in 16:00 and not 4.00pm or 4:00pm or 4pm etc, but I can't find that information at the moment - Sorry! Skytvfreak (talk) 18:20, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Like I have said, when WRITING an aricle you use am/pm, when using it to describe (e.g) broadcast times in a table, it's easier to use 24hrs. So in this case use am/pm. --Kei_Jo (aka Keithf2008) (Talk to me, baby! :P) 18:26, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Shouldn't the new logo be shown?
I saw that you seemed to have un-did the change of logo, so what I will do is create a new Identity section, OK? Slrkn54 (talk) 18:34, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
- The only reason why me and other users kept removing the new upcoming UK logo is that the logo section at the top of the Info TV box is for the CURRENT logo ONLY. NOT for previous or future logos. They can however can be added in a seperate section, like you have now done.

License tagging for File:Gem Collector.png
Thanks for uploading File:Gem Collector.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 23:05, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
