The Motorola Xoom is an Android-based tablet computer by Motorola, introduced at CES 2011 on January 5, 2011. It will be the first tablet to run Android 3.0 Honeycomb. It will be made available in the first quarter of 2011. It was launched with 3 other products: the Motorola Atrix, the Motorola Droid Bionic, and the Motorola Cliq 2.[1]
CNET.com named it the "Best of the CES" 2011.[2]
Xoom features
Motorola XOOM allows consumers to experience HD content, supports 1080p HD video and plays video and other rich web content such as Adobe Flash. Motorola XOOM features a front 2 megapixel camera for video chats over WiFi or 3G/4G LTE also with HDMI output to display content on larger HD screens, as well as a rear facing 5 megapixel camera that captures video with 720p HD. Motorola XOOM is also marketed as having console-like gaming performance, with a 1280x800 display and 3d graphics acceleration provided by the Nvidia Tegra processor. It features a variety of sensors, including a built in gyroscope, magnetometer, accelerometer and barometer. Light bars along the edges can also be controlled by applications. Google Maps 5.0 with 3D support is also included. The Xoom uses an Nvidia chipset, which includes a variety of systems on a single chip, including a dual-core CPU and graphics processor. The device also features a widescreen 10.1 inch display.
Accessories
Motorola Xoom use an array of accessories made to expand the device capabilities. it include docking stations that will charge the XOOM and also be able watch video while it charging. The Xoom also use bluetooth® technology wireless keyboard. Designed with Android™ in mind, the Keyboard is full sized. The Xoom can be protected using a custom fit Portfolio Case, which will be available in leather.
Software
The Xoom will run the new Google operating system Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) that includes an optimized new user interface, 3D desktop, improved multi-tasking, Google Maps 5 with 3D interactions, and browser enhancements including tabbed web pages, form auto-fill, bookmark syncing.
