Savanna Dry is a brand of dry cider, brewed in South Africa from Granny Smith apples grown in the Elgin area of Western Cape. It is brewed by a natural process and contains 5.5% alcohol. [1] It is made and marketed by the Distell Group Limited, the largest South African producer and distributor of wines, spirits, and ciders. The British importer, Babco, describes Savanna Dry as a premium brand, aimed at reaching 'image conscious individuals' outside the traditional market for cider. [2] The cider is promoted as being drunk with a wedge of lemon in the bottleneck as depicted in images of the advertising campaign. The idea was reportedly conceived by an Australian barman working in Cape Town.[3]

In May 2000, a Savanna Light Premium Cider was added to the range of beverages. [4]
