Title

I have a question. Where does the word "SILVERADO" come from? Does it have a meaning, or was it just made up by someone? Thank you.  ;-)odiekarone

It's a type of Spanglish for "silvered". The earliest usage was documented by Robert Louis Stevenson in his book The Silverado Squatters. Silverado was the name of a mining camp in Northern California. The name remains in common use in the area. For example, The Silverado Country Club, Silverado Blvd., etc. Tmangray (talk) 01:09, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

~~I wish this film had a different name. "Silverado" refers ONLY to "Juan Silverado"; the name Stevenson gave to a cinnabar mine( quicksilver; or mercury). It didn't go by that name, previously. Any other use is plagerized from him and Napa County. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tintinteslacoil (talkcontribs) 01:17, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Citation needed

I'm questioning the statement, "Though this film received little attention at the time of its release, it featured a cast full of actors that would go onto achieve high-profile careers." The film was highly regarded by critics, and stole some of the thunder from Pale Rider, another latter day Western that came out the same year. All of the main cast with the exception of Costner were known and bankable properties, the least known of them having established themselves with Kasdan in The Big Chill two years previously. I think whoever wrote this statement was talking off the top of his head, and someone with some actual references and citations should rewrite it. 12.22.250.4 16:27, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

A fair amount of text in this article is stolen from IMDB.

Should be renamed

Since there are other uses of Silverado on Wiki, this article should be renamed Silverado (film). Any objections? Tmangray (talk) 01:10, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Silverado.jpg

Image:Silverado.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Who's a Hollis?

Whoever set up the cast list is adding information not provided in the film. Specifically, Emmett, Jake and Paden are credited simply as Emmett, Jake and Paden; no other name for any of them is given in the credits. Also, Augie's mother and J.T.'s wife, Kate, is Jake and Emmett's sister; it is highly unlikely that Augie and J.T. would have the same last name as Emmett and Jake. We need to see a reference stating that anybody's last name is "Hollis", and specifically whose. Until someone can produce this (and, no, "IMDB says so" is not an acceptable reference), I am deleting the possibly spurious name "Hollis" from the cast list. 71.200.138.188 (talk) 22:32, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
