Tral

Template:Infobox Indian jurisdiction Tral(ترال) is a town and a notified area committee in Pulwama district, of Jammu and Kashmir, India.

Geography

Tral is located at 33.93°N 75.1°E / 33.93; 75.1. It has an average elevation of 1662 metres (5452 feet). Tral is a township which is 10 km away from National Highway(NH-1A). Tral is known for natural springs, both hot and cold. Some springs remain hot in winter and cold in summer. It has certain adjacent areas called by the name Diver,Sofigund, Mandoora, Monghama ,Kuchmullah, Nadar, Aripal, Zuwastan, Narastan, Laam, Naagberan, Amirabad, Dadasra, Kunjbal, Kounsarbal and Shikaragh .

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Tral had a population of 11,607. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Tral has an average literacy rate of 80%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 71%, and female literacy is 45%.

History

Five hundred years ago the real name of Tral was (تریہ لال) Three Pearls because the whole area was purchased by Hazrat Ameer Kabeer (RA) in three pearls to spread Muslim Relegion at here who came from Baghdad in Iraq to spread Islam in Kashmir.
