Malmal Village is situated 3 km away from its block Kaluahi and appx 17 km away from Madhubani city. Currently Malmal village is a one of the largest village out of total 1111 village in Madhubani district. It has two Panchayats; North Malmal Village and South Malmal Village.
History
As it is said by ancestor of the village ("No written prof anywhere"), Malmal was established at time of Akbar by Malmali Khan, one of the Translators in Akabari darbar. After the establishment of New Raj Dharbhanga, Several expansion was done in form of new places (later converted as a village) to build strong taxation system in mithali region. Raj Darbhanga was contained with 4,495 villages under 18 circles in Bihar and Bengal and employed over 7,500 officers to manage the estate at that time. And it is believed that Village Malmal was also established by officer Malmali khan at that time only.The population of Malmal is about 18000.
Geography
Nearest Villages are :- I West: Champa, Naraila In East: Bardepur, Pusolia In North: Rarh In South: Mohammed Pur (Kaluahi) And also kaluahi,harpur,bhalni,dostpur.
Economy
There are not such a good opportunity of economic resource in the village although it has very productive agricultural land but due to lack of infrastructure people doesn't want to take any risk to grow vegetable and seeds on bulk level. Most of the works available in the village are either small scale or household scale like chura, rice, milk and its products and a little bit of occupation agricultural products like growing and selling of vegetables. Fishery, poultry farm and aggregation kind of industries have a huge scope here but require special support from government.
Due to lack of economy resource gradually peoples are migrating toward metro cities like Delhi and mumbai and earn good living. The major source of income of the village is "income from urban area.
Education
Comparatively the other village of madhubani distric literacy ratio in malmal is high, two decade ago literacy ratio in the village was low due to lack of quality and proper education system. But gradually the good educational system is being developed by government and privet. At present two primary schools are operating by government and also one middle school in the village. Apart from that a few private and socially supported schools or Madrasas are also being run intellectual persons. those are Madrasa Chashma-e-Faiz[1] and SAFA Girls High Schoolwhich was established in 1992.the principal of school is Mr. Wasimur Rahman.he is also a social activitist. Safa girls high school is especially for girls but boys can also take the advantage of the school up to stander 5.A hostel is also provided for the students who are not generally of malmal village.All the facilities are provided in the school as well as in hostel for the students.
Religion & Caste
Mainly there are two religion in the Village Malmal i.e Muslim and Hindu. The various hereditary, endogenous castes, called jāti, are ranked on a scale of superior to inferior, marked by traditional rules of interaction and sanctions against certain kinds of interactions, especially intermarriage and inter dining (in Hindu). The principal castes of Mithila are as follows: In Hindu - Maithil Brahmans, Bhumihars, Yadavas,Teli, Dhanuk, Mallah, Dusadhs, Chamars, Kumhar, potters and several sub caste of its. In Muslim - Shaikh, Darzi, Mokeri, Laheri, Dhuniyan and its sub caste.
Culture
The culture of living is not different from others north Bihar region. The majority of peoples are living below poverty level so the living and food standard is also below acceptance level. Maximum houses are temporary or made by mud and bamboo sticks with wooded pillar. Fewer of middle class peoples are also having houses made by cement and concrete. Food - Vegetables and Fish are the major food habits of the village. Rinse - Dhoti and kurta, and Muslim wear kurta, pyjama and topi.
One Beradar, known as " TERAH GHARIYA BERADARY " resides here. speaking languages are different for men and women which is known as "TERAH GHARIYA LANGUAGE".
Sports
In the village despite unavailibility of suitable arrangement of sports complex and accessories, it is proud watching gradual developing sporting culture in Malmal village. It comprise cricket, badminton, carum boars swimming, marathon, kabaddi, and kho kho. Several village level cricket teams are also there.
Cricket has been introduced in village malmal by late zafar Aasim.After his sudden death the club was destroyed. In 1984 one Tanzeem "ESLAH-E-MOASHRA" was stablished by Mr. Aftab Ahmed Faisal. Dr. Captain Shabbir Ahmed was the President of the tanzeem while Mr. Mehdi Imam, Molana Wasi Ahmad Siddiqui, Mr.Shamsul Hoda, Mr. Naseem Ahmad were acting as supporting members. All young and under education boys were connected with this tanzeem. For their entertainment, Asim Memorial Cricket Club was established and Mr. Afsar Imam was elected as captain of the team. In the history of Malmal cricket first time this club had participated in the cricket tournament of Rasheed Pur and first time this team was declared winner of any cricket tournament. Not only winner of the tournament, even the team was awarded by "Discipline Cup" due to the extra ordinary discipline of players as well as espectators of Malmal, not only in the ground, even out of the ground also.
First tournament of Badminton was organized by students of Malamal near the house of late Mr. Sahabbir Ahmad Gangi while first Carum board tournament was organised by Ehteshamur Rahman. Both tournament was won by Mr. Afsar Imam Roofi. Mr. Wajid Hussain (Ex chur) was the runner of the carum tournament while mr. Feroz Ahmad (Chota) was the runner of the Badminton tournament.One of the best player in carum is Tousifur Rahman who can end the match in just one shot Every year under arm cricket tournament is organised on Mukhia Haat.This tournament is held every year under the lights.
