Please restore image

Can you restore File:Blazeofglorysingle.jpg so I can add it back to the article. The newer image is actually the album cover and has been removed. Exxolon (talk) 02:21, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Courcelles 02:23, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Exxolon (talk) 02:28, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Horrible mistake

The Shot Calla was a charting album, which makes it notable. If you wanted refs, all you had to do is ask, restore please. Live and Die 4 Hip Hop (talk) 04:29, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Same thing with Choppa, what were you thinking? He's had charting albums and singles. Restore, please. Live and Die 4 Hip Hop (talk) 04:33, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The first was a textbook A9. The artist's article was deleted, so the albums go automatically. The artist's article would have to be restored for that one to last. Choppa was a seven day old PROD of a underreferenced BLP. I'm ging to need to see the refs before restoring that one, though I won't A9 his albums at this point. Courcelles 04:55, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
What was the reason for this purge? D-Shot, Celly Cel and Choppa? Anybody else? All made it to the Billboard charts, which makes then notable, Celly Cel's Killa Kali, even went to No. 4 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Why would you delete all of them?
Read WP:PROD, a tag stayed on the articles for a full week, after which they are deleted by an admin. All someone had to do for a week was remove the tag. I saw barely referenced articles that were right on the line of notability at best, so I deleted them entirely within process. Courcelles 03:06, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously you are not into hip hop related articles, but I am and you should have sought me out for my advice. The fact is people make mistakes and you made a horrible mistake. All the articles you deleted deserve to have articles and should be restored. Live and Die 4 Hip Hop (talk) 03:46, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Facepalm on my behalf! Acalamari 12:13, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. :) Acalamari 12:13, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. If I got charged a sixpence for each of my mistakes, I'd be a rich man indeed. Courcelles 12:30, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! You can delete the local file again. Turns out the information was there all along, but it was masquerading as an interwiki link. (A leading colon, like in the title of this section, was missing. -- Ken_g6 (factors | composites) 18:07, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gone. Thanks. Courcelles 03:00, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yoga of Silence Pt. II

Hi, i´m the author of this article and i was sending the request for undeletion. I don´t understand why an article about yoga of silence is considered as not notable enough for wikipedia. Seeing that it´s existing in four more languages, the article should at least get the chance to be discussed and revised by some more people! Loverofsilence (talk) 20:14, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your undeletion request pretty much made the problem apparent- you admit there's no academic literature on this yet. While we don't need academic work, we do need high-quality reliable sources. Without a hint of those, there's very little that can be done on this topic. (I also note that several other language Wikipedia's have now deleted this topic.) Courcelles 03:40, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Online Ambassadors

I saw you have been really active lately and I clicked on over to your user page and was pretty impressed. Would you be interested in helping with the WP:Online_Ambassadors program? It's really a great opportunity to help university students become Wikipedia contributers. I hope you apply to become an ambassador, Sadads (talk) 23:38, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Active? Meh, I can barely even keep up with on-wiki stuff and OTRS right now, much less finding time to write articles. Maybe next term, if my general free time increases at all. Courcelles 03:45, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. :) So sorry about not being around to help correct and respond while the 1948 featured list was (and still is for some reason - pretty sure we've got consensus now, couldn't it be closed?) 'running the gauntlet' at FLC. I didn't even know it had been nominated, not being on and all! If something similar ever happens again, please don't hesitate to send an email - I'm always happy to receive them! Anyway, I'm still glad the list is intact - I was especially pleased to see the photo I selected for the lead still there. I just think it looks nice :D Arctic Night 03:32, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No worries- I don't mind babysitting FLC's; most of the time it's not hard work, just move a few commas around and clarify what was in my head that never quite got on the page. Dabomb used to close on Tuesdays and Fridays, though I think it has gone to just Fridays lately. Got anything else coming down the pipeline? Courcelles 03:55, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Heh :) I haven't got any lists at the moment - I'm mostly working on Persons of National Historic Significance who meet the notability test but are otherwise fairly obscure. I usually have enough on them for a DYK, but not nearly enough for a GA. It's so unfortunate to leave articles like that! I did nominate Tourism in Malta for GA status recently, as I found quite a bit of material on that. How are things on your end? Arctic Night 13:35, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm working on the rest of the Winter Olympic medallists lists... though only on the lists, not worrying about a word of prose at this point- see the 1960 and 2002 lists I put in mainspace. It's like all the creativity to write anything has left me lately, even on OTRS work where the whole point is to write e-mails- thank the saints for form replies that I can tinker with. June is going to kill me soon if I don't start making List of accolades received by Slumdog Millionaire look like our last FL together, List of accolades received by Up in the Air (Wanna help? I'd rather get a root canal than write right now, though my copyediting chops are still here.) If I had thirty hours in a day, no distractions, and could beat some sense into my coworkers at my real job, I might manage to keep up. (Also, you did such a great job at the '48 list, we could turn out these easily if I made the lists like List of 2002 Winter Olympics medal winners and you would write the prose.) Falling ever farther and farther behind... Courcelles 13:43, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, it's OK - you don't need inspiration, as you've already edited enough for ten or twenty editors of my experience! I'd sure love to help construct some more lists, but to tell you the truth, I find making lists a little repetitive... maybe I could do the prose! The only reason I'm on hee right now is because I'm sick and can't do anything else - it's brutally honest, but remember how I keep taking those extended Wikibreaks? XD Arctic Night 13:55, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I sit there, I stare at a screen, and absolutely nothing happens. I may know the subject like the back of my hand, and read even more about it making the list... and nothing comes. A good many of my FL stars are from ones where I found a proseless list and wrote some, so this is kind of an interesting turnaround. And lists are a bit repetitive... We'll need 21 of these Winter Olympic lists and then one for the lead of the featured topic, though what I have no idea at all. Feel better, and if you ever feel like you need work, I'll always have some I can pass off on you ;) Courcelles 14:06, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, and thanks for the get well wish :) Whenever I can't write any more I tend to do something a little more administrative, so once I run out of steam this time round I think it would definitely be a good idea to work on the FLs. Cmon FL director... just promote this one already! Arctic Night 16:09, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Arthur F. Carmazzi

we just attended a talk by the author arthur f carmazzi and did a google search to find this page being deleted. the talk was exceptional but our organization requires due diligence before engaging consultants. since you have deleted the page from wikipedia, should we assume that he is not of good character? is there something we should know? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.255.2.118 (talk) 11:44, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You should think no such thing- a person's character is not in any way indicated by the deletion of their biography on Wikipedia, merely that they fail to meet our relevant guideline, WP:BIO. In absolute terms, the vast, vast majority of people on Earth would have their articles deleted if someone wrote one; this doesn't mean they're not good people, it just means the coverage and notability isn't there. Courcelles 12:41, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

we were under the impression he had notoriety, his books are prominent in the book stores here in Singapore, he gets a lot of PR in the regional magazines, and we saw that he is ranked as on of the top 10 leadership gurus. it would appear that he has notoriety. but quite honestly i am not familiar with wikipedia criteria, is it more US centered for the English version? would you please clarify this for me. --203.117.33.5 (talk) 11:36, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality has nothing to do with it, if there are intellectually independent sources, the article can be restored. WP:BIO applies to everyone, in the US, the Commonwealth, or Mongolia. (Though I'll admit people from English speaking countries are easier to find sources on. If, for example, the Straits Times had done a full piece on him, that would be high indication of the article being worth a second look...) Courcelles 12:44, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Right-wing politcs

Thank you for protecting Right-wing politics. Could you please protect Talk:Right-wing politics as well. TFD (talk) 00:52, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

We generally don't protect both the article and the associated talk page without extraordinary reasons, which don't appear to exist here. Courcelles 12:45, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WKC Webpage restoration

I am coming back to our last discussion. IOC - despite karate is not an olympic sport, IOC does also officialy recognizes some other sports - e.g. those which apply for the membership on Olypmpic - I am not going to explain the whole story it can be easily found on IOC webpage. Important think IOC does officialy recognize karate and WKC as well. Plus notability - a number of notable people ( the list has been provided] are mentioned in independent resources...not going to repeat myself. Notability of WKC was proved by citing independent media. Ho is it possible other karate federations - even those I have never heard about - like WUKF - may have its site....notability is the same... In my country we say:"who wants to beat the dog fidns a wip easily" This is your case.... Kodyzak (talk) 12:32, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Take it to WP:DRV or don't. I'm not discussing this any further since you've resorted to insults. Courcelles 12:59, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your assistance please

You deleted the redirect for Abdul Razzaq Hekmati. I request userification of the base article. IMO, there is no way the base article merited deletion. He was the first Guantanamo captive to be die of natural causes while in US custody. His death was extensively covered in the press. That coverage revealed rather shocking failures on the part of Guantanamo intelligence staff, who never learned Hekmati's true name, didn't learn the Taliban had a $1,000,000 bounty on information leading to his capture or death, and got the only true thing on the allegations justifying his detention backwards. He was accused of plotting to rescue Taliban leaders from a Northern Alliance prison. That was backwards. In 1999 he actually rescued three Northern Alliance leaders from a Taliban prison. Talk page too please. Geo Swan (talk) 14:16, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the rapid userification.
As closing administrator I request your opinion as to what changes you think are required prior to restoration of this article back to article space. Geo Swan (talk) 14:26, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would also be grateful for the userification of Mohammed Nasim (Guantanamo captive 849) Mohammed Hashim Nasrullah (Guantanamo detainee 886) Rahmatullah Sangaryar Abdul Ghani (Guantanamo detainee 934) Abdul Bagi (detainee) Bismullah (Guantanamo detainee 968) Norullah Noori Could you please userify them, and their talk pages, to User:Geo Swan/Userified 2011-01/Mohammed Nasim (Guantanamo captive 849) User:Geo Swan/Userified 2011-01/Mohammed Hashim User:Geo Swan/Userified 2011-01/Nasrullah (Guantanamo detainee 886) User:Geo Swan/Userified 2011-01/Rahmatullah Sangaryar User:Geo Swan/Userified 2011-01/Abdul Ghani (Guantanamo detainee 934) User:Geo Swan/Userified 2011-01/Abdul Bagi (detainee) User:Geo Swan/Userified 2011-01/Bismullah (Guantanamo detainee 968) User:Geo Swan/Userified 2011-01/Norullah Noori.

I can place the {{userspace draft}} and blank out the categories. You don't have to do that yourself. Thanks. Geo Swan (talk) 14:48, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Those are all BLP's. 99% of the time I will not userify those articles, and these are falling within that portion. You're welcome to ask at WP:REFUND to see if another admin will be willing to do so, but I am not. Courcelles 17:57, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your assistance please

Could you please email me the last version of User:Geo Swan/Hamesh Gul that I edited?

Could you please also email me the talk page, if it had any human comments?

Could you remind me whether this was a previously deleted userified page, or a new draft?

Could you tell me when it was started, and when I last edited it?

Thanks Geo Swan (talk) 15:49, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It was always at the title it was deleted at. You made only two edits, both on 10 March of last year, 20 minutes apart. The later revision, of 0151 20 March 2010, should be in your inbox. Courcelles 17:59, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Arthur F Carmazzi's Wikipedia page...

I was really surprised to find, that Arthur Carmazzi's Wikipedia page was taken down. I recently attended his workshop, and it was awesome. It had a huge impact on me. And when I thought of getting more relavant information about him, I found his page is deleted. Is there any reason why his page got taken down? I really rely on Wikipedia to find information about things and people,so would request you to put it back.

Thanking you in anticipation —Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.184.84.125 (talk) 18:10, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Restored as a contested WP:PROD... but nominated for deletion via discussion. Courcelles 18:19, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please explain your locking of Edward A. Flynn after said article had relevant information removed from said article. Per User:SummerPhd the content was discussed in the Discussion section of said article and the conclusion reached, with much citation, was to include the relevant information. Your claim the information is "dirt" doesn't seem applicable as all participants to the affair admitted it, and the included information is only two very short sentences. The affair occured between two public personalities (one a political official, the other a talk show host who also wrote a newspaper column). Both admitted to the indiscretions as cited in the Discussion section. And there are tons of citations to the topic from a while ago so it's not a short-term, long-ago news item but a long-term story. Thank you. 72.128.198.226 (talk)
