Express Towers became the tallest building in South Asia upon completion in 1972, by ending the 9 years long rein of the 101m tall Habib Bank Plaza in Karachi.[2] Express Towers was surpassed as South Asia's tallest building two years later my Oberoi Trident Towers, at 117m(383ft)[1]. However, it was Usha Kiran, which was Mumbai's first high-rise, built in 1961, at a height of almost 80m.[3] Express Towers is a 105m tall and was part of the 1970s skyscraper boom in Mumbai. In fact it kick-started the first skyscraper boom for Mumbai. The 2nd skyscraper boom began in the early 2000s and is currently going on. It was built in the then new business district of Nariman Point. Its the Head quarters for The Indian Express and currently the McKinsey & Company is also housed in this building.[1]
