Larry Drew II (born on March 5, 1990) is an American collegiate basketball player for the North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball team.[1] He is the son of Larry Drew,[2] who was a 1st round draft pick in the 1980 NBA Draft and is the current head coach of the Atlanta Hawks. At William Howard Taft High School, he won the John Wooden Award as the 2008 Los Angeles City Section Player of the year.

Larry Drew II earned a spot as the starting point guard as a sophomore, replacing Ty Lawson who was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves, and had an up and down season as the Tar Heels struggled to a 20-17 overall record and failed to reach the NCAA tournament. [3] For the season he averaged 8.5 points per game on just 40.2% shooting from the field, six assists and 2.1 turnovers per game. [4]On February 3, 2011 it was announced that he is leaving the University of North Carolina's basketball program. He did not cite any reasons but his playing time, scoring, and assist numbers have all been down from last season, and freshman Kendall Marshall took over the starting point guard job in mid January.<ref>http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=6089805/ref>
