Shima is the reigning queen of Kalingga kingdom in northern coast of Central Java circa 674 CE. She was notorious for her fierce law against thievery to encourage her people to be honest and uphold absolute truth. According to the tradition, one day a foreign king placed a bag filled with gold on the intersection in Kalingga to test the famed truthful and honesty of Kalingga people. Nobody dare to touch the bag that is not belongs to them, until three years later Shima's son, the crown prince accidentally touch the bag with his feet. The queen issued death sentence to her own son, but overruled by the minister that appeal the queen to spare the prince's life. Since it was prince's foot that touch the bag of gold, so it was the foot that must be punished through mutilation.[1]. Shima's great-grandson is Sanjaya, who is the king of Sunda Kingdom and Galuh Kingdom, and also the founder of Medang Kingdom.
