Pieces in a Modern Style is the sixth album by electronic instrumentalist William Orbit. Released in 2000, it was responsible for introducing the piece Adagio for Strings to a new generation. This was the first single from the album, however the version played on radio and television was a remix by Ferry Corsten which lead to people buying the album thinking it was dance music.

The second single was Pavane pour une Infant Defunté. This again had a different arrangement to the album version, but this time was done by Orbit himself.

The album was originally intended for release in 1999, but had to be withdrawn due to lack of permission for the inclusion of some pieces. The released version removed these pieces, and replaced them with others.
