Nomination
Silivrenion (talk · contribs) – Self-Nomination. I've been with Wikipedia for a while, and I'd like to assist in better ways where I can. I've never applied for Administrator before, but it's only a set of tools to help with Wikipedia. I know a lot of people have an ego thing going about it, and I'm definitely not one of them. I'm passionate about fixing issues related to vandalism, and currently use a lot of Huggle, Twinkle, Popups, and Rollback to fix issues I see. Administrator priviledges would allow me to Semi-Protect pages that are becoming a problem, and help in a bigger way. I love Wikipedia, and want to help it become a better resource for everyone. Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. Please answer these questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
- A: I intend to assist in speedy deletions, page protections, and other matters related to anti-vandal protection
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: I've made a few research edits in the way of the Beverly Cotton Manufactory, and discovering what the real first cotton mill in America was, but I'd have to say that no specific contributions of mine are the best; the aggregate amount of contributions I make to Wikipedia, and the knowledge that I'm helping to make it a better place, is the best contribution I can give.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: There's been a few times when I've accidentally reverted something that wasn't quite vandalism, but had some keywords in it that seemed like vandalism. Of course, I'd go back and review the edits and fix the problem when I became aware of the issue. There were some conflicts about non-verifiable information being used in Cotton Mills, specifically, which location was the birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution, but it's all just historical squabble, not real conflict. I've had a pretty good time cooperating with others on Wikipedia with little to no issues.

Oppose
- Oppose, but with moral support. I think 700 manual edits and 40 edits to WP: space just doesn't demonstrate the depth and breadth of activity I want to see from an administrator candidate. You're on the right track, though, and I like your enthusiasm and the fact that you have created (and referenced!) articles. I hope to see you back here again with a little more experience. 28bytes (talk) 02:43, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
- I agree. I appreciate your willingness to spend time here, but adminship is not something you can gain so quickly. You have less than 3000 edits, and most of those were made with tools such as Huggle and Twinkle. Most administrators have a much higher edit count than that and have been editing for several years before they put themselves forward for an RfA. This is not meant to discourage you. There are many examples of editors who became administrators less than a year after they first registered. But they are in every case among the most hard working and stable editors we have, whereas your editing history suggests a lot of stops and starts. —Soap— 02:44, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
