Bangalore Peer Review part deaux

Pamri,

The Bangalore peer review is in its final phase...a lot of work has been done to revamp the article and I like the way it stands as of now. I wanted to thank you for your continued support and contributions in improving the quality of the article. I am working on minor touch-ups, as necessary, and should be in a position to nominate it for FAC tomorrow (2/20). If you have a few minutes at your disposal, could you please give the article one last review before the FAC nomination? Thanks a bunch! AreJay 03:41, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bangalore Peer review

Hello Pamri,

A peer-review for the Bangalore article is currently under way. I invite you to please provide your thoughts and valuable insight to help improve the quality of the article before we push the article for a FA nomination. Details of recent work done to consolidate and clean-up the article can be found on Talk:Bangalore ("To-do List"). Thanks! AreJay 19:08, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Pamri, I am currently cleaning up the last bits and peices of the article...just wanted to get your thoughts on something. The People and Culture section mentions that people from Bangalore are also referred to as "Bangaloreites"...is this accurate? I have not seen this word being used..as someone from the city, I was hoping you could shed some light. Thanks! AreJay 16:59, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Template:IndiaGov

Please see Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion#Template:IndiaGov --Deepak|वार्ता 20:42, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Public Domain Images

Just last week I realized that the Image copyright tag {{Template:PD-IndiaGov|PD-IndiaGov]]}} is based on a wrong interpretation of the Right to Information Act and hence they will be deleted, The template of PD-IndiaGov gave such an impression that everything uploaded from the Government website was very much leagal. I had uploaded many of the images from the directories of NIC.IN, I am of the opinion that atleast as per "fair use" we can use them. For example pictures of war

It is really unfortunate that the template was kept alvie for all these days. Its should have been revoked through peer review

Just an Opinion

Many of the images uploaded by me are getting deleted. I hope we will find a solution for this.

Opinion of David Newton in a previous discussion with regards to deletion of an image

It would appear that if there are Indian images that were published before 1946 then is the tag to use. However, note that even if such copyright has expired in India if it was published after 1923 in the United States and registered then it is still in copyright in the United States and thus cannot be used on Wikipedia (fair use aside). If the images have never been published in the United States then the term to think about is life of the author plus 70 years. So, if an image has been published in India prior to 1946, and never published in the United States, then the author needs to have died before 1936 for the image to be usable on Wikipedia. David Newton 18:06, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As per the "fair use" policy the template PD-IndiaGov should not be deleted

I saw your vote.. and I appreciate your efforts. You deserve an applause for your constructive solution by modifying the text but still keeping the spirit of copyright intact. --Aravind Parvatikar 07:12, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

regarding kannada wikipedia

i wud like to translate articles in english wikipedia to kannada wikipedia, can i do it?will it amount to cpyvio?

Thanks Pamri!

Hi Pamri,

thanks for intervening with the anon IP though it doesn't seem to have worked well. Am back from my wikibreak and would get active soon. --Gurubrahma 13:49, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please take a note of this when you will be back / active. There is no article on Indian Copyright Act. I think, this is one of the reasons which led to issues with the template PD-IndiaGov [(this is for deletion) do you know some one with knowledge in legal issues and can also help us in building this article. --Aravind Parvatikar 08:05, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
