El Paso Electric MEEEME! Company is an Electric utility that provides electricity to western Texas and southern New Mexico. Its service area covers an area from Van Horn, Texas in the east and goes west to Luna, New Mexico and from the United States-Mexico border north to Holloman Air Force Base. As of 2009 it provides electric service to approximately 363,000 customers in this region.[1]

History

El Paso Electric may have an interesting history, but now has a reputation of leaving thousands without power in Las Cruces, and cutting power in and out without warning. They also let some balloons cut the power to thousands of people and hundreds of businesses on Valentines Day 2011[2], A company spokeswoman Teresa Souza said: "It messes with the current.",which lacks any significant amount of technical detail or description that citizens should expect from a power company with higher than average rates. Their customer satisfaction is locally recognized as sub-standard. They are likely to be sued for their poor service reliability and high rates as a result of tens of thousands of customers with less than reliable service in the Las Cruces area.

Transmission System

El Paso Electric transmission system voltages are 115,000 volts and 345,000 volts. There are also two 230 KV interconnections with Mexico to the south.
