Peter Sullivan

Peter M. Sullivan is a New Hampshire state representative for the county of Hillsborough, New Hampshire. Born in Virginia, Sullivan is a Democrat and serves in the House Committee for Criminal Justice and Public Safety. Before entering state politics, Sullivan was an attorney.

Sullivan is a graduate of the University of New Orleans and the University of Arkansas School of Law. He served for ten years as a member of the US Army Reserve and the Army National Guard, including five years of service as a commissioned officer.

In 2003, Sullivan was named one of the top one hundred rising stars in the Democratic Party by the Democratic Leadership Council.

As a member of the New Hampshire House, Sullivan has been heavily involved in efforts to strengthen the state's ethics laws. He has also been a leading advocate for victims of crime, authoring the Crime Victim Employment Leave Act.

He is a harsh critic of the United States Department of Homeland Security and the head Michael Chertoff. Sullivan has announced that he is running for the United States Congress in 2006 and maintains a blog.
