Ekta Jeetendra Kapoor (एकता कपूर:Hindi)(ايڪتا ڪپوُر : Sindhi/Urdu) (b. 7 June 1975) is an Indian TV and film producer. She is the Creative Director and Joint Managing Director of Balaji Telefilms, her production company.
She is the daughter of Hindi film actors Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor. Her younger brother Tusshar Kapoor is a Bollywood actor.[1][2][3]
Kapoor has produced and co-produced numerous soap operas, television series and movies. Her television productions include Hum Paanch, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kaahin Kissii Roz, Kahiin To Hoga and Kkavyanjali. She has also been involved with Kasamh Se, Karam Apnaa Apnaa, Kayamath, Kasturi, Kuchh Is Tara, Kya Dill Mein Hai, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, Tujh Sang Preet Lagai Sajna, Bandini, Kitani Mohabbat Hai, Pavitra Rishta, Bairi Piya, Tere Liye, Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani and Kitani Mohabbat Hai Season 2.
She also tried producing a mythological serial based on the Mahabharata and titled it as "Kahaani Hamare Mahabharat Ki". However the serial came under severe criticism from various quarters due to unrealistic depictions of Hindu Mythological figures, outlandish costumes, excessive high-voltage drama and shoddy acting. Ekta tried to defend her serial proclaiming that it was "her" depiction of the legend, but due to the strange storyline followed with various bizarre twists and turns, viewship plummeted. The serial had to be taken off air due to declining TRPs.
She has also produced five Bollywood movies, Kyo Kii... Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta, Kucch To Hai, Krishna Cottage, Koi Aap Sa and Kyaa Kool Hai Hum. After Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, she also co-produced Shootout at Lokhandwala, Mission Istanbul and produced Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai.
