The Journal of Medical Internet Research is a peer-reviewed open access medical journal founded in 1999 covering eHealth and "healthcare in the Internet age", edited and published by Gunther Eysenbach. The journal is widely regarded as one of the pioneers in open access publishing.[1][2] According to the 2008 Journal Citation Reports, the journal has an impact factor of 3.590, ranking it first out of 20 in the "medical informatics" category and 2nd among 62 journals in the "health care sciences & services" category. In 2009, the impact factor further increased to 3.925.
