Grzegorz W. Kołodko (pronounced [ˈɡʐɛɡɔʂ kɔˈwɔtkɔ]; born January 28, 1949 in Tczew, Poland) - professor of economics, economist specializing in development economy, system reforms and public finances, currently heading a think-tank TIGER, Transformation, Integration and Globalizaction Economic Research, at Kozminski University.
He took part in Polish Round Table talks representing the communist regime side. He held positions of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance four times between 1994 and 2003, under four different Prime Ministers. He was a consultant for the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, United Nations and OECD.
He authored 40 books and over 400 scientific articles in the area of economics. His publications were translated into over 25 languages. He graduated from Warsaw School of Economics. He received a scholarship from Fulbright Program during his appointment at University of Illinois. Prior to his appointment at Kozminski University in 2000, he had various lecturing positions at schools including Warsaw School of Economics, Yale University, UCLA and University of Rochester. Kołodko was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Polonia Restituta order by the President of Poland Aleksander Kwaśniewski, also from the former communist party, and was a multiple winner of special prizes by Poland's Minister of Education and Science. He's been awarded the honorary degrees from eight foreign universities from the former USSR. Professor Kołodko is a marathon runner and a globetrotter (has explored over 140 countries).
