Blairgowrie High School
Blairgowrie High School is a high school in Blairgowrie, Scotland. The Blairgowrie High School has around 1,000 students from Blairgowrie and the nearby towns of Alyth and Coupar Angus. The current Rector is Mr G Millar. Attainment is on a rising trend and has risen significantly at Standard Grade and in S2. An increasing number of Business links have been established. It did however have a very poor reputation for a long time, receiving the nickname "Battlefield High" from regional newspapers (due to the lack of control over the pupils). Rector Mr J Fyfe was a key contributor in the regaining of pupils trust.
In 2005, the school was one of the first twenty eight schools in Scotland to be awarded Schools of Ambition status [1]
Former pupils include comedian Fred MacAulay and singer songwriter Dougie MacLean who wrote the song Caledonia and the legend Michael Cattigan.
