Tristin

I don't know if this is important but Tristin form season 2 was on season one of American Idol and made it to Hollywood. During her audition the it was stated that she was valedictorian of her high school. 69.119.114.20 16:41, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Richard Durbin's Myspace???

How did people find RIchard Durbin's myspace website? I am curious because if Richard himself is editing this page...wow. haha Thanks. 68.249.188.31 19:54, 6 April 2007 (UTC)gsingh2300 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.249.188.31 (talk) 19:53, 6 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Where's Season 1 Cast Information?

I noticed that there is no Season 1 cast information or website links. I thought it would be a good idea to include people like Richard and Mindi's websites, since they're the reason there was a Season 2. Thanks.--Zrr 23:40, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cheating?

If anyone can confirm this. I just listened to the Season 1 Finale, and I believe when Chuck is being asked what Caitilin's middle name is you can barely hear someone say something like "asimo" three times. Once, then a pause then twice in succession. You can definitely hear the "s" sound and three syllables. I was listenting with headphones to a Divx version so it may be hard to hear regularly. Titus Flavius 13:51, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There was also the time when chuck won the competition of trying to get women's phone numbers, and chuck pretended to be a gay screenwriting student. Not cheating, but damn is it against the point.

Personal Sites

This list of websites, such as blogs, and MySpace's is getting pretty long, should we keep them? Tvaughn05e (Talk)(Contribs) 05:46, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Personally I think that the current setup is working well enough but if there is enough support I suppose that we could integrate it into the cast table?

It's fairly rough and doesn't include the sites of the cast members with multiple sites or Tyson's blog because he already has a wikipedia link, which is arguably more important... -Dave 03:47, 3 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism section

I stripped the criticism section. "Criticism" sections or articles require extremely strong justification to stay in Wikipedia; they tend to attract POV. In this case it had no sources, no justification for its permanency. Feel free to reinsert if notable figures are quoted saying what was in the removed text. Article Cleanup Co-Ordination Point

uh...

This article doesn't explain the actual nature of the competition, that is, what form the competition takes. So, maybe it should do that. I don't watch the show so I'll leave it to people who know more about this topic than I.

The following material in the overview was removed Nov. 23, 2006 (U.S. time) (see [1] and [2]):
The show matches physically attractive, but intellectually challenged women with geeky-looking, socially inept, "genius" men, and have them try to learn from each other. The women try to learn about academia, such as rocket science or auto mechanics, from the men while the men try to learn social skills from the women. The pairs must room together, including sleeping in the same bed, in a large mansion that provides the setting of the show.
The first season begins with seven "beauties" and seven "geeks". The second season begins with eight "beauties" and eight "geeks". The men and women take turns choosing partners by introducing themselves in gender-divided rooms. Once paired off, the teams work together to become proficient in unfamiliar areas of study. Their skills are tested in a series of competitions, usually one for the men and one for the women. The winners of each competition get to choose one team each to go to an elimination round, or both if each partner wins their respective round. In the elimination room, the women then the men answer three questions each about their area of study. The team with the most points (or the winner of the tiebreaker in the event of a tie) remains in the mansion. The other team leaves immediately.
The remaining team wins $250,000, split 50/50, paid out over 5 years. The winner of the first $250,000 prize was Chuck and Caitilin. The winner of the second $250,000 prize was Josh and Cher.
Perhaps the material should be replaced (with appropriate updates and cleanup)?--GregRM 20:52, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Romance?

While it was never a dating show, but in season 2, Wes & Cher were very tight since Vegas. Had any other people hooked up with other fellow cast members (or even their teammate since the show?203.100.211.54 08:34, 9 February 2007 (UTC)TimHowardII[reply]

Nate and Jennylee got together in Season three, but no word on if they have continued the relationship.

Ah... I haven't seen season 3 yet. 124.197.37.127 08:45, 25 February 2007 (UTC)TimHowardII[reply]

Photos

For Seasons 1 and 3, the photo of the entire cast is present, but Season 2 photo is of only the girls. The article ought to have a photo of the whole cast or at least an additional photo of the boys.

Season 3 - Throwing the contest?

Hello everyone - I'm not too well-versed in Wiki editing, so forgive me if I make a faux-pas. There was a statement in the Season 3 section that said something to the effect of Nate being the first contestant to "throw" a reality TV contest - but I think you could make an argument that Colby did it first, in Season 2 of Survivor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DuRuffio (talkcontribs) 15:02, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Study Materials

I think that the producers should recommend their study materials for us. It could be very useful for us, too. Like, for the question about the 4 taboo topics on the first date, Josh mentioned politics, religion and ex-partners. What is the final taboo category, or what are the 25 different ways to kiss someone? I was asked in a pub quiz, and I had to name 10 of them, but I only got 6. 124.197.37.127 08:45, 25 February 2007 (UTC)TimHowardII[reply]

Next season?

When will the next season start? I'm embarrassed to say it but I really like this show! Amalgamator 05:16, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:First day.jpg

Image:First day.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:06, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cast member's resemblance to Simpsons character

Is it just me? Or does the Season 4 cast member Joshua (picture) bare an uncanny resemblance to Simpson's character Artie Ziff, voiced by Jon Luvitz, the character who took Marge to the prom in place of Homer? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 153.2.246.32 (talk) 15:53, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ha! I thought the same exact thing!!This is not the place to discuss it though. T (Formerly Known as FireSpike) 19:21, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

International versions

There is a misstatement when is said that there is no word in portuguese for geek. In brazilian portuguese the word nerd can be used w/o risk of losing any information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.37.123.41 (talk) 02:28, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Citations

I lost my temper in the edit summary, which I regret, but a previous editor had the extraordinary gall to say, "Oh, we don't need citations for the contestants' last names since they're all on fan sites and public knowledge". What a complete 180 from how Wikipedia works. The most basic, basic tenet, posted on every edit page, is WP:VERIFY! And fan sites, on which anybody can say anything, are not considered credible WP:SOURCEs for biographical-fact claims of living people.

There's no justification whatsoever for removing footnotes (or, alternately, changing them to inline links, which have long been deprecated), and it is a major breach of Wikipedia policy to remove citation-request tags without providing citations. --24.215.162.198 16:16, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Season 4 (beginning section- "controversy")

"This also the first season to have a pair voted out (Natalie and John on week 8) instead of eliminated through a quiz which sparked some controversy[1][2][3] much like Sam's vast experience in show business[4] despite the fact that many other beauties had some previous acting experience as well."

Citations [1],[2], and [3] seem rather absurd and not valid. I mean, source they're all from the CW board, I don't think that this is valid to be called "controversy". It seems that there is almost no real-life controversy, just some people writing on the CW message board. I mean, come on, source [3] of a poll conducted among 23 people! I personally think that is not valid evidence, at all. I need something else, even an online article would be much better, not just some forum posting. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Loveforhomegirls (talkcontribs) 04:13, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Season 5 challenges

Can someone add the grid to the Season 5 challenges? I don't know how. Also, I edited the Season 5 information to be more present tense (it previously said that a casting call had gone out and that the show will debut... but it has already begun)--BrettxPW (talk) 16:24, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ALL BIOGRAPHICAL MATERIAL NEEDS CITATION

We CANNOT put people's supposed last names without citing a source. Sourcing for anything involving living persons is one of Wikipedia's most publicized and widely written about rules, and comes down from Jimmy Wales himself. Please read Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons:

"I can NOT emphasize this enough. There seems to be a terrible bias among some editors that some sort of random speculative 'I heard it somewhere' pseudo information is to be tagged with a 'needs a cite' tag. Wrong. It should be removed, aggressively, unless it can be sourced. This is true of all information, but it is particularly true of negative information about living persons." – Jimmy Wales.

Season 5 cast members

I suggest that you not put the season five cast members in elimination order. I don't believe it is standard to put spoilers in the cast list--I checked the page just to see who the contestants for this season were and inadvertently found out who lost the first two episodes. The order of those eliminated is shown directly below anyway. Shannernanner 02:57, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Portuguese version

Actually we have a word for geek it's cromo, but they chose to put mestre instead. I don't know why they didn't put cromo, but it would have made more sense. 89.180.58.207 (talk) 13:57, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reality TV

I noticed that this article refers to the show as 'reality tv' but isnt it widely believed to be scripted, and as such the article should reflect that? In the same way that producers claim profesional wrestling to be reality, but the wikipedia article mentions its scripted elements. MindWraith (talk) 02:46, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Confused

This bit is a little confusing: Beauty and the Geek was renewed for a fifth season, which premiered on March 12, 2008. The fifth season was put on indefinite hiatus in order to stoke renewed interest in the show, and perhaps the addition of innovative twists to the format.

To me, the "indefinite hiatus" term implies that the fifth season was aired only up to a certain point, then put on hiatus. But the article shows Season 5 was completed. Would it make more sense to say that "after the fifth season aired, the show went on indefinite hiatus" until it was renewed, blah blah blah?
