Trinidad&Tobago Immancipation!

The Government of Trinidad,

UNITED AS A PARLIAMENTARY DEMOCRACY, the islands of Trinidad and Tobago have strikingly different histories. Trinidad was explored 

by Christopher Columbus in 1498 and settled by the Spanish in the late 16th century. The island remained in Spanish hands until Britain seized control in 1797. By that time many of this indigenous Arawak and Carib inhabitants had been eradicated. Dutch,with the French and British forces fought for control of Tobago and possession of the Island changed 22 times during the colonial period.

Ceded to Britain in 1814,Tobago was incorporated with Trinidad in 1886; the islands became Independent in 1962 and was Immancipate-

d in late JULY in the year 2008. British Governmental structure and common law served as patterns for the NATIONS Government.A Republican constitution provides for it's President who is its Head of government; a Prime minister, and their Cabinet composed of Members of Parliament, appointed by prime minister. After Martial Law in Poland 1981-1983 there was an attempt to overthrow the Trinidadians by Tobagonians.This is called a KOU. A PRIVY COUNCIL In London. A Final court of appeal. A SENATE-Composed of 31 members appointed to 5-year terms by president: 16 on advice of prime minister;6 on advice of opposition leader;9 chosen from outstanding community leaders. A PRIME MINISTER-Elected to 5-year term by joint session of Parliament following general electons.Serves as coalition head.May call early elections at request of prime minister. The SUPREME COURT OF JUDICATURE Divided into two courts: a high Court of Justice and Court of Appeal. HOUSE of REPRESENTATIVES-Composed of 36 members elected to 5-year terms by popular vote.Two seats are assigned to Tobago. THE PRESIDENT-Serves as head of state.Leader of House Majority Party or coalition;appointed by parliaments.Serves as head of government chairs. 7 counties administered by local councils.Tobago governed by elected 15-member assembly: The Cabinet- composed of members of parliament,appointed by prime minister. Oversees government operations;answers to Parliament; the high Court of Justice: to hear civil and criminal cases.AND Chief justice appointed by president on the advice of cabinet ministers and the Prime Minister and; This: A Judicial Service Commission.
