River Jeker in Maastricht.

The Jeker (Dutch, in French: Geer) is a river in Belgium and the Netherlands. It is a left tributary to the river Meuse. The source of the Jeker is near the village Geer in the Belgian province Liège. Most of its course is in Belgium (provinces Liège and Limburg), except the final approx. 5 km in the Netherlands (province Limburg). The Jeker flows into the river Meuse, in the city Maastricht. Cities along the Jeker are Waremme, Tongeren, Kanne, (all three in Belgium) and Maastricht (Netherlands).

Rafting on the Jeker is an entertaining recreational activity. Beginning in Kanne, it is possible to raft into the city of Maastricht on this relaxing river. The water flow is best in mid fall and spring. It is possible that obstacles are present when the water is too low. The trip from Kanne to Maastricht takes about 2 hours, and crosses the border between Belgium and the Netherlands.
