Ableton Live is an audio sequencer made by German company Ableton. It is unique in that it is primarily designed to trigger loops of audio 'on-the-fly', rather than from a pre-determined linear sequence, as in programs such as Cubase.

It also features 'loop-markers' which allow the user to adjust the speed at which parts of a sample play back whilst maintaing overall synchronisation and pitch, pitchshifting that works independently of playback speed. Ableton Live also supports the use of VST effects.

At the end of July 2004 Ableton are releasing a new version of 'Live which will include full MIDI support and VST instrument support.
