Tori Vega (Victoria Justice) gets the chance of a lifetime to attend Hollywood Arts, an elite performing arts school after taking her big sister Trina's (Daniella Monet) place in her school's big showcase. With the help of her new best friend André Harris (Leon Thomas III), Tori receives a standing ovation from the crowd, and accepts the offer. On her first day, she meets Cat Valentine (Ariana Grande), an emotional drama queen, Robbie Shapiro (Matt Bennett), a shy awkward nerdy student who speaks through his dummy Rex, the handsome Beck Oliver (Avan Jogia), and his popular mean girlfriend Jade West(Elizabeth Gillies). After accidentally spilling a smoothie on Beck, Tori finds herself at the wrath of Jade, who thinks Tori was flirting with Beck. After an altercation with Jade, Tori wonders if she is good enough or even belongs at Hollywood Arts. After speaking with André and Trina, she decides not to leave Hollywood Arts and gets a measurement of revenge on Jade the next day during improv class. Notes: Nickelodeon promoted this episode as a "sneak preview" following the 2010 Kids' Choice Awards, earning 5.7 million viewers, making it the highest rated premiere for a live-action Nickelodeon series.[2] It was previously reported that the Victorious premiere was second in ratings to the Big Time Rush premiere.[3] But Dan Schneider stated on his official blog that Nickelodeon made an error making that report. The original broadcast of this episode was an extended cut, all subsequent airings had various scenes and lines were removed to conform to its time-slot. The extended cut version can be downloaded on iTunes and was featured on the iCarly DVD "iSpace Out". | |||||||
