Andrew J. Hinshaw
Andrew J. Hinshaw (August 4, 1923–) is a US Republican politician from California.
Hinshaw was born 1923 in Dexter, Missouri and attended public schools in Michigan and Los Angeles, California. He received a BS from University of Southern California in 1950 and attended its law school. He was in the Navy in World War II, during 1942–1945.
Hinshaw entered politics as an Assessor of Orange County, California, serving during 1965–1972. He also served ten years with the California State Board of Equalization and five years with the Los Angeles County, California's Assessor's Office.
Hinshaw ran for Congress in 1972 and served in the 93rd and 94th Congress during 1973–1977. Hinshaw was convicted in 1976 of accepting bribes while Assessor and spent a year in jail. He lost the primary election and resigned when his term ended.
After jail, he resumed his business interests in California in a business analysis firm and computer graphics firm.
Hinshaw lives in Mission Viejo, California.
