Uranian (sexuality)
Appearance
Uranian is the English adaptation of the German word Urning, which was created by the early homosexual activist Karl Heinrich Ulrichs. The word derives from the Greek ouranos, for heaven. Ulrichs was inspired by Plato's theory of the dichotomy between "heavenly" homosexual love and "earthbound" heterosexual passion. The word was popularized in England by John Addington Symonds and used to denominate the school of [Uranian Poetry]], as well as the "Uranian" art of Henry Scott Tuke or Baron von Gloeden.
