Hi there. Thanks for your interest in adding images to the article on Washington, D.C. I don't have a problem with including the image of the stamp, except that it most likely violates copyright restrictions. The reason is that in order for copyright protected images to qualify for fair use, there can be no other images that can be used in its place. In this instance, the article's isn't about the stamp, it's about the stamp's subject and therefore the use of the image is dubious. I would recommend asking the more senior editors at WP:IMAGEHELP to get a final verdict. Best, epicAdam^(talk) 01:29, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the response. I've updated the fair use rationale since it was more for the posthumous recognition that L'Enfant has received, which is direct discussion of the stamp itself and therefore falls under the terms of Template:Non-free_USGov-USPS_stamp. U-2 citation templates

I regularly replace incomplete, inaccurate or poorly formatted templates with "scratch" cataloging information. My "rule" is if there are two mistakes in the information, then I replace them with a proper citation formated per Modern Language Association (MLA) style guides and Harvard Citation guides. Extra lens contacts

Hope you did not get rubbed the wrong way, by me making changes to your edits. I just wanted to make sure that information was factual, and informative. But I think adding it in the first place was a good idea! :) In case you did not know, the extra three contacts are just "jumpers", that can be shorted. They are called COM1, EXT0, EXT1. So there are only a possible of three different shorts. COM1 to EXT0, is for the life size converter. COM1 to EXT1, is for the x2 extender. And COM1 and both EXT0 and EXT1, are for the x1.4 extender. I have no idea why there are two different shorts for the life size conveter and x1.4 extender. Both lenses cause attached lens to change by 1 stop aperture. My only guess is that since life size converter for for EF 50mm Macro only, using it on telephoto lens will make it not work... who knows! Nebrot (talk)

No problem at all! Your photo of the extra contacts is much sharper than mine; my only L series lens was the one being photographed. Do you have a cite for the names of the other jumpers? It might make sense to split the pinouts into a separate section with a table of the pins. I read elsewhere that the focal length reported with the teleconverters was adjusted in the EXIF data; does the "Life size" have a different multiplier than the x1.4? -- Autopilot (talk) 02:29, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Here is links/info on three attachments,x1.4, x2, LSC. Your idea on what pins actually do, has merit. I have though the same, but always though it was a bit too much information. Maybe not. I did some searching on flickr, and found that using LCS on 50mm macro causes EXIF to report 70mm f/3.2. But the LSC also causes the focus range to be 1:1 - ~1:4. So! the LSC is more than likely a tele-extender, but only does not allow full focus range, unlike normal TC. Hence why it has fewer elements, more simple design. Interestingly, I found a few users on flickr who use the LSC on lenses other than 50mm macro, like 100 macro. It would be interesting to know what exactly would happen if one used the LCS on an L telephoto lens. Would it work?, would the focus range just be limited?, would it be manual focus only? Jonquil Flowers Merge Image

Consider merging the two images of the Jonquil flowers on the article for F-number at an opposite diagonal from the current one? It might provide a much better example of the immediate as well as extended effects of an F-number on Depth of field. Volunteer opportunity in Bethesda, Thursday, July 16

The Wikimedia Foundation will be conducting an all-day Academy at the National Institutes of Health, in Bethesda, Maryland, on Thursday, July 16. The team that will be teaching at the Academy, a mix of paid staff and volunteers, is looking for four more volunteers to be teaching assistants, providing one-to-one assistance in workshops whenever a workshop participant has a problem following the instructional directions. (We currently have two editors signed up as teaching assistants, and are looking for a total of six.)

The NIH editing workshops are only for two hours, but volunteers are asked to meet the Wikimedia Foundation team at the hotel in Bethesda at about 7:15 a.m. (time to be finalized shortly) and to stay for the entire day, which ends at 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. (The full schedule can be found here.)

The team is not necessarily looking for expert editors (though they are welcome), just people who can help novices who might get stuck when trying to do some basic things. If you've been an editor for at least 3 months, and have done at least 500 edits, you probably qualify.

If you're interested, please send John Broughton an email. If you might be interested, but would like further information, please post a note on his user talk page, so that he can respond there, and others can see what was asked.

First DSLR Feature Films

The Canon 5d Mark II has been embraced by the independent film community for it's low light sensitivity, shallow depth of field, interchangeable lens selection, and relatively low cost. It boasts a full frame 35mm CMOS Sensor that is larger than the RED's, at a fraction of the price. This has changed the landscape of independent filmmaking in a relatively short timeframe.

The first known feature film to be shot on the Canon 5d Mark II was "A Beautiful Belly", written and directed by Andrew Kenneth Gay, and had limited theatrical release in April 2010. At the time, there was no firmware yet developed for manually exposing video, so they were forced to use Nikon lenses with a manual iris for principal photography.

"Sensory Perception", written and directed by Alessandro Signore, was shot in November 2009. This film is notable for being the first Canon 5d Mark II feature shot with Canon lenses, as principal photography commenced after the firmware update allowed the camera to manually exposure video. As of June 2010, this film is in post production and had not been released yet.

"Searching for Sonny", written and directed by Andrew Disney, had originally claimed to be the first Canon 5d Mark II feature, but production didn't start until May 2010. The film stars Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights). Canon777 (talk) 14:56, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed you uploaded File:Components of US Money supply.svg, can you please redo it using a logarithmic scale? A linear scale is not correct when dealing with money, because what matters is the change in value, not the absolute amount of value. (In fact a linear scale is not correct for most things.) Thanks. Thank you! That is much better - it conveys the magnitude of the split exactly! It shows the growth is constant - which it is (there is no runaway growth, but rather steady year by year growth), and it shows the magnitude of the split has not changed much, which is exactly correct. Another way to look at the split is that there is about 10 times as much M2 as currency, and that ratio hasn't changed much. It doesn't look as impressive, but it is more correct. This kind of error is common in many graphs about money, and it leads people to false conclusions about how things have changed over the years. This is a perfect example of how misleading non-logarithmic graphs are. Thank you very much for replotting this. Do you want to change the images in articles, or should I do it? Also, can I ask you to replot all the images in the various money articles, or is that too much? :) I did one a while ago, but I'm not very good with gnuplot. Ariel. Question about image "Global Carbon Emissions" on Commons

Hello, This image you have put on Commons seems to not match the data sources you have given on the file information page: For the year 2000 for example the data source gives 6.7 billion metric tons in total while the graph shows over 7 billion. Furthermore the data only goes up to 2007 while you state that you have "updated [it] to use 2010 data". Do I misunderstand something or have you used another data source?
