La Quebrada is the Capital of Urdaneta District, it is called also La Quebrada de San Roque. In the past the major income of the people of the town and surrenders were from their coffee plantations but today all of them dedicate to the cultivation of vegetables, fruits and flowers.It is a mountainous area and it has a nice cold weather all the year. The houses have a spanish colonial style built on sloppy 'laderas' very well planned. The people is very open, kind and welcoming. All these characteristics have contributed to attract many visitors and turists. A part of the beauty of the landscape, the visitors admire the serie of local festivities during the year, which keep the town very lively and colorful. Among the main feats the most important are: The Patron Saint Feast (The Asuntion of Mary and St. Roque in Agosto 15/16), the Holy Week and Christmas which are prepare 'en vivo', The 'Paradura' of the Child Jesus, St. Isidro and many others. El pueblo also offers to the visitors various turistic and cultural places such as St. Roque Hotel, Nidal de Nubes Hotel, La Posada Hostel, the House of the 'Cultura', the Art and Graphic Workshop, the Public Library, the beautiful spanish colonial main church and the so called 'La Capilla' where one can appreciate the paints of the famous 'quebradeno'painter Ademar Gonzalez, very well known nationally and internationally.The town has also avery well tuned Music Band (it is 100 years old)and performes for the peopleevery week saturday evening and many other occasions during the year. Actually to visit this town is to renew and refresh life.
