The Samurai Power Rangers, are the eponymous protagonists of the 2011 Power Rangers television series Power Rangers Samurai. They fight against the evil Master Xandred and his army of Nighloks, who want to flood the planet with the water from the Sanzu River. The team's motto is "Rangers Together, Samurai Forever!"
Jayden
Jayden is the Red Samurai Ranger, also known as the Samurai of Fire. He is the leader of the group. He also has a secret that he keeps from his fellow Rangers.[1] His father was also a descendant of the Shiba Clan and gave Jayden the Lion Foldingzord. Jayden is generally calm and serious, though he considers others' feelings and is willing to do anything to help his friends. He is also being targeted by a mysterious half-Nighlok, half-human warrior named Deker, who wants to find a formidable opponent for his katana Uramasa. Jayden is also a strong leader, overcoming the Beetle Disk's powers when the other Rangers needed help with another one of Xandred's Nighloks. Jayden wields the Fire Smasher and pilots the Lion Foldingzord along with the Tiger Zord. He formerly piloted the Beetle Zord, which is passed on to Mia, then Mike. Master Xandred soon learns that Jayden can write a special symbol or seal with his Samuraizer that can ultimately trap him forever, and for that reason he starts targeting Jayden. He also does know that the seal cannot be permanent if the user doesn't have enough symbol power. When Xandred sends Robtish to eliminate Jayden, Deker gets in the way, saying he is the one to fight the Red Ranger. After a long three-way battle, Robtish retreats and Deker fights Jayden alone. But since Jayden didn't have the full strength, Deker leaves and introduces himself fully to Jayden, Mike, and Mia, saying "I am Deker. Nothing less, nothing more." After this encounter and seeing Emily and Kevin injured, Jayden leaves the Shiba house in order to protect his teammates.
He is portrayed by Alex Heartman. Young Jayden is portrayed by George Beca.
Kevin
Kevin is the Blue Samurai Ranger, also known as the Samurai of Water. He is an honest, devoted swordsman who dreamt of becoming an olympic swimmer before being summoned to fight against the Nighloks. He is also second-in-command of the team. Whenever Jayden is not around he will usually be the voice of reasoning that everyone listens to.[2] Kevin is extremely loyal to his friends and is very serious about it, even considering quitting the Rangers after he raised his sword against Jayden (though it is under one of the Nighloks' influence). Kevin wields the Hydro Bow and pilots the Dragon Foldingzord along with the Swordfish Zord, which he caught with the help of a mysterious fisherman. Kevin is also injured during a battle against Robtish, and Jayden sees this and leaves, finding it the only way to protect his team. Kevin came up with the idea of the Battlewing Megazord.
He is portrayed by Najee De-Tiege.
Mia
Mia is the Pink Samurai Ranger, also known as the Samurai of Sky. She acts as the big sister to the team. She believes that she is a great cook, though others would disagree.[3] Mia's maturity and optimism brings the team together and comforts any one of them that's feeling down. She also acts as an idol to Emily, who wants to be more like her. Mia wields the Sky Fan and pilots the Turtle Foldingzord. She formerly piloted the Beetle Zord, which is passed on to Mike in the same episode.
She is portrayed by Erika Fong.
Mike
Mike is the Green Samurai Ranger, also known as the Samurai of Wood. He is an avid video gamer and the rebel of the group.[4] It seems he has some feelings for Emily and is a best friend to Kevin, unlike their counterparts Ryunosuke and Chiaki. Mike also wants to train harder in order to catch up to Jayden and Kevin's progress. Mike wields the Forest Spear and pilots the Bear Foldingzord and the Beetle Zord, which originally belonged to Jayden and Mia.
He is portrayed by Hector David, Jr.
Emily
Emily is the Yellow Samurai Ranger, also known as the Samurai of Earth. She is a country girl who becomes a Ranger by chance. She replaces her sick sister, Serena who was destined for the position.[5] Emily used an old saying "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me" to help her get through her childhood, and also thinks she isn't fit to be a Ranger, saying she is a disaster. She idolizes Mia. Emily wields the Earth Slicer and pilots the Ape Foldingzord given to her by her sick sister Serena. She can also be seen playing a flute, due to her sister playing a flute to make her feel better every time someone picked on her. She is injured during a battle against Deker, causing Jayden to leave in order to protect her and the other Rangers. Emily also has a close relationship with Mike.
She is portrayed by Brittany Anne Pirtle.
Antonio
Antonio is the Gold Samurai Ranger, also known as the Samurai of Light. Though a fish seller, he is the tech wizard of the group. He also happens to be a childhood friend of Jayden, receiving the Octozord from him and making a promise to aid him as a samurai. Antonio can also be described as cocky, as when he saved the rangers from the new nighlok, he told them, "What? No 'thanks for helping' or a little 'what? what?'. Oh, I get it. You need a minute. Whenever I make an entrance, it's go big, or go home! Am I right?" Antonio can also speak Spanish.
He is portrayed by Steven Skyler. Young Antonio is portrayed by Connor Kerrigan
