Optera

Optera is the homeworld of the race known as the Invid. The Invid lived in peace and harmony with their Flowers of Life for milennia until the arrival of Zor. Zor seduced their female ruler, the Regis, and discovered the secrets of the Flower of Life. The Regent, male ruler of the Invid, banished the Tirolians.

The return of Zor to Optera, with the Zentradi Armada, would forever change Optera and the Invid as their Flowers of Life were stolen from them, and the Invid were left on their homeworld. In the years following, a savage war would erupt between the Tirolians' Mechantile Empire with their Zentradi warriors, and the ravenous Invid who were desperate to regain their stolen flowers.

In the course of the war, the Zentradi attacked and razed Optera, rendering the surface nearly uninhabitable, but the Invid by then had largely escaped to deepspace to continue their war. When the Zentradi were defeated by Earth in the First Robotech War, the Tirolian's Empire was left to fend for itself, as the Robotech Masters set forth in their massive Space Fortresses and left for Earth.

The Invid wasted no time in exploiting this weakness. They quickly re-inhabited Optera, and launched deep strikes against the remnants of the Tirolian's Empire. The Invid's long war of vengeance came to an end with the conquest of Tirol, homeworld of the Robotech Masters, and capital of the Tirolian Mechantile Empire. In subsequent Robotech spinoffs, they clash with the Robotech Expeditionary Force, notably the Invid Regent who dies while fighting against Breetai, who led a suicide attack to Optera.
