Coast to Coast is the second album by Irish boyband Westlife, released on November 6, 2000 on RCA records. Five official singles were released in UK and Ireland. "Close", "Soledad", and "Puzzle of My Heart" were released in airplay on the Philippines. While "En Ti Deje Mi Amor" was a physical single release in Spanish-speaking countries only.[1]
The Asian version have had two bonus tracks (except Japanese which had three with their single "If I Let You Go"[2]), "Close Your Eyes" and "Nothing Is Impossible". While Australian version had one, "Nothing is Impossible". The Singapore version had included their CD single "Fool Again" on the pack.[3] Also, a limited edition of the album was released with a unique Westlife picture MRT transport ticket.[4] In Asia, there had been a limited edition of the album including a bonus video "Westlife - Live in Jakarta, Indonesia".[5] Another version of the album in Asia was released with exclusive picture card calendar.[6] The UK promo album sampler CD includes "My Love", "What Makes A Man", "I Lay My Love On You", "When You're Looking Like That" and "Close" with the custom group picture sleeve.[7] The Mexican version released was included with two Spanish-translated tracks of "When You're Looking Like That" and "I Lay My Love On You" with different picture sleeve from UK.[8] In Korea, a set of 5 postcards, 1 of each band member plus facsimilie signed fold-out poster, in glossy slipcase picture sleeve were included.[9] In Taiwan, a bonus facsimilie signed fold-out poster & set of picture/lyric cards to put inside your filofax, picture sleeve & obi strip was included.[10] In Japan, the album was re-issued to include the charity single "Uptown Girl".[11]
Reception
Coast to Coast received generally negative reviews from critics, Andrew Lynch from Entertainment.ie gave the album 1 out of 5 stars calling the album "Commercial Suicide", there was more positivity at Allmusic, giving the album 2.5 out of 5 stars, comparing the band to other bands such as Take That and Boyzone. The album was the 3rd best selling of 2000 in the UK. It is also currently the sixth biggest selling boyband record ever in the UK.[12]

Chart performance
Coast to Coast debut at #1 on the UK Top 75 Albums with 234,000 copies sold in the first week, the album remained at the top spot for one week, being knocked of by The Beatles's The Beatles 1, the album has been certified 6x Platinum and has sold over 1.5 million copies in the UK. A Gold sales award disc was issued to commemorate sales in excess of 115,000 copies sold in Mexico. Features a unique 3D design manufactured out of 8mm thick perspex, and includes two pointed black monolith's at the front with 'Westlife' written on in white, a gold CD mounted in the centre with blue mount, an overlapping picture of Bryan with a sleeve artwork reproduction and dedication plaque below. Measures approximately 13"x14"x 4".[14]

Asian and Australian special deluxe editions
The album was re-released later on Asia and Australia with the same track listing above but with a new 8-track Remix CD in custom picture sleeve, glossy colour picture slipcase.[24] The Chinese version excluded "I Have A Dream" and "Close Your Eyes" due to strict Chinese censorship laws.[25]

A DVD entitled "Coast to Coast - Up, Close and Personal" was released on November 27, 2000. The release included an exclusive interview from the members of the group. This said album peaked at #1 in UK.
Background
Before the release, a message from the band was released stating:
Did you hear about our second album launch? It was a huge success and an event we'll never forget. We met 15,000 fans in 4 cities in 36 hours, and we even found time to perform an 8-track exclusive set . . . and it's all captured for you on this DVD.
We've also included an exclusive video that you won't have seen anywhere else before, plus, a brilliant quiz to win backstage footage shot on our tour. The recording of the 'My Love' single and six music videos.
A full-length video & DVD of the Tour will be out later in the year, so keep any eye out for that. until then, enjoy the DVD and we'll see you soon!
