Introduction

The Grand Prix Championship Super Series of nine tennis tournaments, formed part of the Grand Prix Tennis Tour, and were held annually throughout the year in Europe, North America, Africa and Asia. These tournaments were the most prestigious in terms of prize money and ranking points between 1970 and 1989. When the ATP came in to existence in 1990 most of the surviving tournaments were absorbed into the current ATP Tour. The nine most important events become known as the ATP Championship Series, Single Week (1990-1993) since developed into the ATP World Tour Masters 1000

History

Throughout the 20 year period from 1970-1989 a number of these ceased to be Top Tier Tennis Events. After the Grand Slams and Season Ending Championships these tournaments were the highest in-terms status and were the equivalents to the Masters Series today.

Complete list for this period.
